Ebay may be the way to go for some generic TT for around $10-$20, but they may not include the hand and foot pegs. Also, Vikings Playground, Goodstufftogo.net, and Black Ops Toys carry loose nude bodies in the US.

Well, these heads should work with any body that uses a neck joint adapter like Hot Toys, so I would love to see how they work on different bodies.

I have a Hot Toys Truetype with the more slender chest/torso that I thought would work for Spock and Bones and the Truetype with the fuller chest that seems more appropriate for Kirk.

Great minds think alike.

Hadn't thought of the BBi, interesting idea.
Anyway, I guess I'll just have to stock up on some loose bodies and see which works best.
Actually, it was a Dylan Hunt Andromeda BBi G1 now that I think of it. He was made with leg extenders to be taller like Sorbo.

So, does that make them compatible with DML? Are we talking Hot Toys Drake type heads or Hot Toys Hudson?

The way I sculpt most of my heads is with a full neck. All that needs to be done is to drill out the neck and attach a small neck joint adapter whether its Hot Toys or Dragon or whatever. Then just snap it on your body of choice. I wrote a post about neck drilling and neck adaptors somewhere. I'll go find it and link it here.

EDIT: Here is that link: NECK JOINT

Ok, so I'm getting ready to take the plunge and order custom outfits for a couple of different projects, including this one.
So the question is: what's the official status of the commission for these outfits on nanjin's side and Amy J's (MWD forum)?
Is there also a centralized commission on either of these?

Thanks for the help!

There's not any official commissions on these, but Amy J's site does offer them for sale. I'm going to order some from nanjin to support his effort and I have faith the the end product will be fine. That's part of the fun of customizing. We get to put together some figures that aren't normally available or improve upon some that are out there but just not up to par.

Hello guys and girls:

I am still in Hong Kong. I have met with the production company and everything is working out fine. This project will begin in mid-Feb, because we need to wait for the factories to open to discuss with them on the details of the uniforms, such as materials for the uniforms, insignia, ranks (on sleeves), the utility belts, and the boots. The only thing that we are sure is the cutting of the uniforms will follow the pattern that I bought.

BTW, don't worry about if you want to get the uniforms elsewhere. I am not doing a business here. I just want to share something I think will be good for those who are interested. :joy After all, I am already sure I will have some good head sculpts and I want the best items to match up with these first rated sculpts (at least up to my "personal" standard). However, I think the finished product won't be ready until sometime in May.

Great! I will patiently wait to see what you come up with. Thanks.

Hello Guys,

Just get off the plane couple of hours ago. One hour before I left for my flight in HK I located another production company whom I believe can give me a lower price on the uniforms or can help me to bargin a lower price with my original contact. I also bought a load of "TOYS" from this store including 3 HT bodies which rounded up to around $25 or less each.

I will try to locate more if you guys are interested. I will bring them back myself so for domestic US cost including postage will be around $30-35! Will let you guys know when I start scheduling the trip. I am planning to go between late Feb and mid March to check out the prototype uniforms. Don't worry, I will not factor my plane tickets into the cost of the uniforms! :)

Excellent news man!
So, just so that I can understand this better:

1. Do you need us to commit to these uniforms before making the prototypes?
2. What type of bodies will they be tailored to?
3. How would you go about getting paid?

Thanks for the info!

1) No need to commit.
2) HT bodies. But looking into the three characters' height issue. I will discuss this once I met with the factory's rep.
3) Whatever the production company charges me, I'll pass it along to those who commissioned Chris to do the head sculpts.

So, can we still partake if we just want the uniforms?

The quantity that I requested to make is based on the head sculpt orders that Chris received under this particular Discussion. My original plan was if those how ordered from Chris do not like the uniforms that I made, I will sell the extra to other interested parties with a marginal markup. But I don't mind making more because this will only lower my cost. The only problem is I am so "Fxxkxn" lazy and messy, most likely I will loose track (I don't have to keep track when I am using Chris's record). Let me set up an Excel file to handle this. :naughty

BTW, what's going on with the accessories? I must know how are we attaching them to utility belt. I am utilitzing magnets on mine. I have two options (assuming magnets are used):

Thin piece of metal sheet or wire glued on:
1) the utility belt
- or -
2) the pants (no utility belt is needed)

Please note that by going with option 2, the appearance of the figure is better looking because the utility belt add thickness. In TOS, they did used velco on the accessories and the pants.

I don't mind option 2. I plan on having the crew holding accessories, and I think you're right that the belts would add thickness that could hurt the appearance of the uniforms.

Thanks guys. If we are not doing belts, than small metal will be inserted, glued, or stitched onto the pants (fm inside). This leads to my next problem, accessories.

I didn't want to bring this up before because I didn't want you guys to mistaken I am trying to do business here at this thread. I am working with the production company not just on uniforms but on accessories too. I have incorporated the idea of utilizing magnets. But with a magnetized phaser 2 (magnetized Phaser 1 mates on a no magnet Phaser 2) the phaser can easily stick onto the wrong side because of its polarities. Ex: the top of the phaser against the figure body and the handle points outward. To go around is to make the metal piece on the pants so small that the magnet on the phaser has nowhere else to attracted to. Do you understand what I mean? But if I do this, then the phaser will only have one place to stick on, either high hip or low hip position. On the other hand, we can make Phaser 1 and 2 as seperate units, then the phaser placement option is easy to solve. I myself prefer Phaser 1 as parts of Phaser 2 with low hip placement.

Need your ideas and opinions. I only have 2 weeks to give them my final requirements and deposit. Once given to them, it will cost me to change. Please let me know. I am not trying to make money, but for sure I don't want to loose money.

is there a design difference between Phase 1 and Phaser 2?

So, just so I understand, did they NOT wear belts in the show? If so, how did their phasers attach to their pants?

Also, Nanjin, just wanted to thank you for all you are doing. We are really excited about having original crew on our shelves!! Do you have any pics of any of your previous work?

Thanks!!
