Thanks an sorry again

Hey guys!

Only slightly off topic, Who wants an Original Series Andorian head sculpt? I have a Star Trek TOS Andorian 1/6 headsculpt that's about 90% done. I thought I would finish him up if a few folks wanted him for their Star Trek collection.

Anyone interested?

I'll also be selling copies of a full 1/6 statue of B'Lanna Torres from Voyager soon. And following that, my Worf statue that some of you may have seen already. Thought I'd give a heads up. Let me know if anyone is interested in those! I'll post some photos shortly....

I'm in for the Andorian head sculpt. The more Star Trek TOS character, the better for me.

When and/or if SFM finally gives up on producing their prototypes I'm finally on a short list to purchase a set of the samples. So if this line of commissions ever gets to Sulu/Uhura/Chekov I may be interested. I'm interested in the idea of an Andorian, but will not commit until I see a finished sculpt

Can you post some pics of the Andorian head?

Shall I put this offer in the first post?

Actually, let me put some photos up in a day or so, then I'll sell it separately since he's not really part of that group, plus he'll be available first. It's a sculpt I did about 10 years ago for a full 1/6 statue. I had one of the sculptors who worked under me do the body. Frankly, the body never satisfied me, it was just not that good. In fact, I finally melted it down a few weeks ago to salvage the wax. But I saved the head. Back then, I would always sculpt the heads myself, or at least substantially so, and rough out the gesture of the body before handing it off the body to my other sculptors to develop further. If it wasn't up to my standards I would go back and fix it, but we were out of time on the project so I had to let it be. The other sculptor just didn't take it that extra distance to make it right. So, I was always disappointed. Luckily it didn't get many copies made before the store it was made for went out of business! You won't hear my say that often...

Anyway, I'm going to jazz up the headsculpt, make it what it should have been, then shoot a few photos. I'll probably go ahead and give the discount for a couple of weeks even though he'll be done in a few days so that folks can get him at the same price as the others.

Hey Chris, if this is a small order/commission and not a "one off" which therefore I have missed, sigh, then count me "in!" In fact, I may want two (2), to go along with the two (2) McCoy sculpts I have already signed on for. Would that be being too greedy? :naughty

You wouldn't consider doing Harry Mudd some-when sooner than later, would you? :whip

Mudd!!!!! Yes!!!!! I'd love to do him, eventually. Perhaps after the basic crew is all done. Of course, he'll need either "Mudd's Women" or several copies of his wife android all pointing at him! :D

Not a one-off, I'll be making a mold and casting as many as we need.

I'll be working on him over the next couple days so I'll have photos very soon.

So, I have this image in my mind now of Dr. McCoy checking the Andorian's temperature....... the "old fashioned" way! :rotfl

Maybe I need to put a look of surprise on his face?

Well, if you give ME the choice, it'd be Mudd's Women, not his wife!!! :naughty

BTW, thanks for the reply about the drilling on McCoy. I just PP'd you for the two. LUK as soon as you need the pre-pay for the Androians?? I can send it now if you need...:joy

Since I have it almost done, let me show it first before you send payment. After all, he's a generic character, so you don't know what he looks like..... you may not like his face! :) I'll get some photos ASAP.

Consider yourself slapped!! :rotfl

I appreciate the enthusiasm! I just want to make sure you guys like how he looks. I mean, you know what Kirk looks like, but this guy is an unknown face....

I'm gonna take a nap, then I'll see if I can work on him a bit tonight so I can show him to you. :)

Just a few thoughts:

As regards the "Assignment Patches," most folks should be able to make their own if they have an ink-jet printer attached to their computer -- really!!

You ought to be able to simply copy a boat load of the patches (from earlier in this thread, for example) many times over in a "paint" or other page (I know PowerPoint works), and scale them down to make sure they will print out the right size. In fact, you can put a BUNCH on one page. Then you only need some printable cloth (e.g. "canvas paper" ought to work).

I suspect a good idea would be to visit your local JoAnn's or other fabric store. Buy some "Fabri-Tac" or similar fabric glue. Also, buy some "Fray-Stopper" or similar liquid that will stop "open" edges from unraveling. "I" would suggest you "paint" a patch with "Fray-Stopper" before cutting the patch loose from the page. Do this CAREFULLY so the ink doesn't "run," and then wait for it to dry... Then you should be able, after cutting it loose and trimming, to simply fabri-tac it in the right place on the shirt!! I just got some "canvas paper" in, and am going to give it a shot...

As to shirts (and trousers), Amy Jones makes 'em, and I have over a dozen sets from her. They're pretty good! She will also make "Skants" for the gurls, though they're a bit more fiddly and a bit more expensive from her. You can see some of her work modeled on my "crew" @ My Star Navy and Part Deux...

:D

Thanks for your input Nighthawk. That's the way I meant to do it. Still, what bothers me is the silver background. It won't be silver with a printer, but dull grey....
unless...
I've just had an idea!
Okay, I'll keep it for me until I heve the time to try it, but by combining your method and my idea, we should be able to have silver, gold, or whatever background we want, that is, IF it works!

I'll move this into Customs/Commissions now.
You have several long lists there which is great to see, awesome stuff. :rock :rock
x :peace

off the top of my head, those silver paint pens ought to help get the background -- maybe color in a patch of paper first and then print over it? cut it out, carefully ink the edges with a sharpie so the white of the paper doesn't show, and you should be good...
