haha thanks jkno! A couple weeks ago I came across this thread at work (you know, working diligently and such). Trust me, I went through the entire thread and saw everyone's collection, including yours. Very impressive. I hopped on the bucket collection rather late, literally just started last year. Once I can spare the funds I will expand to compete with the likes of you man!

Thanks jag! Honestly, I'm not sure what I want next. As of right now I'm busy for the next couple of months with a research program I'm involved with. Once I'm back home in August I will have to look around and see whats out there. And thanks for the welcome!

I'm in the same thread, new to the helmets but I'll make some good progress soon enough, but idealized is fine with me :)

Do you own any helmets so far?

Yeah, just a few though you might not approve of them ^^ The EFX Shadow Trooper (I do want a MR, but they're tough to get and at the price it was selling for I couldn't pass it up). Boba Fett prototype, and Shae Vizla from KOTOR currently. I have the Anovos tk lid on order currently. Stuff like the Vader and Fett I plan on supplementing with the 1:1 bust instead.

I also have 2 others on order as well, and if the Anovos stuff comes out great I'll prob go for the Tie, AT-AT, and Snowtrooper. And I want the Scout and Sandie from RS props. But that's all future dreams as no $ for it atm :p

as long as you love them that is all that matters man, sounds like you got some great stuff coming!

Oh I do, I'm not a studio-accurate accurate guy and I love the EU. So I love them and I definitely have no problem with it, but I know JKNO prefers studio-accurate OT stuff. Seeing his helmet collection definitely inspired me to start one of my own

Yeah, I am a studio accurate nut myself, so I understand. But I know its not for everyone ;)

I think I remember not too long ago, questioning other members on here about the idea of someone actually wanting "wonky," sloppy helmets instead of the idealized style helmets that the original prop makers and Lucas had in their imaginations when the props were made. I tracked down an eFX Vader Limited because I liked that it was "cleaner."

Now I've got RS Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper lids, and an RS Scout on the way. All "wonky" and not pristine at all, and I love 'em. And I'm thinking about selling my Limited Vader for something like a Quasimodo V2.... It's a fun journey going down the dark path of screen-accurate/less idealized replicas, but it can also be an expensive proposition :)

Very nice collection. But wait until you get your hands on the first wonky helmet ;) You might be in for a nice surprise, and you might like them more than you think.

Congrats. RS stuff is great! I'd advise against selling the EFX Vader LE. Might not be 100% accurate, but neither is the Legend for example. keep it and save money for the Quasimodo. You won't be sorry, especially when you'll have both displayed.

However, if you do end up selling the efx Vader LE, please let me know as I've been looking for one!

I have a Stormtrooper helmet that I want to display. Any recommendations for a single clear case that I can buy?

Something for the prop guys here: both versions of the Imperial Code Cylinders (original Radiation Dosimeters) used in Star Wars by the Imperial officers. The blue cap version used by Grand Moff Tarkin, Cmdr. Praji and other officers, and the non-blue cap (the rarest one) used by Chief Bast and General Tagge. Finally I have 2 of each type - in fact I have 3 blue caps (maybe I'll sell my extra some day) and 2 others.

In the 1960’s a company by the name of RA Stephen & Company Ltd, England, UK, made Radiation Dosimeters, that would end up being the props used in Star Wars for the Imperial Officers. The ones used in Star Wars are called direct reading pocket ionization dosimeters. They were typically the size and shape of a fountain pin at that time.

Each dosimeter contains a small ionization chamber (approximately two milliliters). Inside each chamber is a central wire anode. Attached to the anode is a metal coated quartz fiber. These units can be positively charged so that the quartz fiber is attracted to the anode. When the unit encounters radiation, ionization occurs inside the chamber producing electrons.

These electrons are attracted to a positively charged anode, which reduces the net positive charge, allowing the quartz fiber to return to it’s original position. This movement can be calculated and is directly proportional to the amount of ionization (radiation).

Exactly. It blows your mind to see the ingenuity and inventiveness of the guys working for Star Wars in the prop department. :)

Thanks for this bit of info, Sergiu. I'd heard about them being dosimeters, but had never really looked into them more than that. I think the story behind them may be more interesting than the props themselves :) (or seeing them in full, and knowing what their purpose was, versus the tiny tip of them we see on screen. If that makes sense.)

After many years I finally succumbed and bought a Stormtrooper helmet kit from ATA Works. Took a few days to put together and paint, still trying to work out how to display it but I might well get a few detolfs from IKEA for my 1/4 Predator figures and would have enough space left for a few SW items from my collection.

I wanted it to be as close to the ANH stunt screen version as possible, so hand painted all the details.

This weekend I'm working on a Doopydoos E-11 resin blaster kit, I'll be replacing all the cast screws and bolts with real ones, and I'm also looking to build a fully working folding stock to replace the fixed one that comes with the kit. Still waiting for the lenses for the scope to arrive too.

I'm also on the lookout for an accurate TIE pilot helmet, but that can wait for a while.
