Thanks for this bit of info, Sergiu. I'd heard about them being dosimeters, but had never really looked into them more than that. I think the story behind them may be more interesting than the props themselves :) (or seeing them in full, and knowing what their purpose was, versus the tiny tip of them we see on screen. If that makes sense.)

No problem. :) I like to read about the props and stuff I collect. To know what was their origin, why they were made as they appeared on screen etc.

BTW a nice difference in the color of the blue cap from my old and new dosimeters (the old one has a darker blue):

After many years I finally succumbed and bought a Stormtrooper helmet kit from ATA Works. Took a few days to put together and paint, still trying to work out how to display it but I might well get a few detolfs from IKEA for my 1/4 Predator figures and would have enough space left for a few SW items from my collection.

I wanted it to be as close to the ANH stunt screen version as possible, so hand painted all the details.

This weekend I'm working on a Doopydoos E-11 resin blaster kit, I'll be replacing all the cast screws and bolts with real ones, and I'm also looking to build a fully working folding stock to replace the fixed one that comes with the kit. Still waiting for the lenses for the scope to arrive too.

I'm also on the lookout for an accurate TIE pilot helmet, but that can wait for a while.

Dan

Very cool Dan! I own an ATA too, nice buckets, I got my ESB for such a good price I couldn't pass. Neat E-11 too, doopydoos are great, you might want to check out FISD 501st there is a seller having Sterling magazine upgrades for doopys

I've been on FISD for a while, I bought the ATA kit after reading lots of kit reviews on there. Got a load of E-11 threads bookmarked to refer to during my build.

I'm going to mod the mag and other parts myself. The replacement mag is nice, but with shipping to the UK its a bit pricey. Adding the ball and lettering is easy enough, and I should be able make a retaining clip from left over PVC from the stock I'm building today.

Dan

Or you could go for a real Sterling magazine. UK is the best place to get demilled Sterlings and Sterling parts, I got mine from there. :)

My first 1:1 helmet. Handmade (by the talented David Sgaramella) so it mit offend some people, but I like it very much. And more affordable as well as prettier than efx, too ^^ I'm in love with the weathering alone :)

Well, now I know I can't identify the clone helmets from behind :lol spent a minute staring at that top picture wondering what the heck it was. Some kind of abstract Boba?

Got it now. Nice :)

It's made of resin. He is also offering his Rebels stormtrooper helmet. But you like your stuff as official as it gets, right?

Nope. I like my helmets and props as accurate as possible (though within some limits) and due to this I prefer unlicensed items, because most of the time they keep all the warts present on the screen used items. :)

A few cool vintage ROTJ Stormtrooper photos recently surfaced and the surprise is the confirmation of using the ESB "Pugman" Stormtrooper blaster in ep. VI, besides the well known MGC (Model Gun Corporation - Japan) Sterlings converted as ROTJ E-11. Thus in ROTJ we have both the MGC E-11 conversion and the Pugman ESB stunt E-11 blasters for the Stormtroopers.

ESB stunt Pugman E-11 used in ROTJ:

I finally got an original and mint full metal MGC (Model Gun Corporation - Japan) Stormtrooper blaster, and it is one of the best conversions I've seen. These are the E-11 blasters used by Stormtroopers in ROTJ (together with Pugman resin versions). True prop collectors know how rare these things are, especially good conversions. It still misses a small greeblie, but I will get that separately and add it myself.

The Stormtrooper blaster comes with:

• Aluminum scope rail
• Accurate Weaver Scope Ring
• Aluminum Scope with separate glass lens (from Boba Debt's last run)
• Aluminum Barrel Rails
• Accurate Mr. Sparkle Hammer Greeblies
• Real RO72 Sight
• Lightly weathered

And it also came with the original MGC cardboard box from the 80's, which is insanely cool. Now to make some plaques and a cool metal stand.

So awesome, again, grats. :)

:clap

Thanks a lot Chris! :duff

In ANH most of the Imperial guns came from real world guns: the classic Stormtrooper blaster is a British Sterling Mk4 L2A3 SMG, the big DLT-19 rifle is in fact a WW2 German MG-34, the Sandtrooper's dual ammo magazine rifle called RT-97C is the German MG-15, the Sandtrooper's big gun Blastech T-21 is a Lewis Mark I machine gun (without the round ammo magazine). And other various real guns were used by Han, Luke, Leia, Fett and some of the bounty hunters. To most of these guns the talented guys at ILM added various parts and greeblies (scopes, t-tracks, etc.).

Now in ROTJ Lucas didn't want to mess up with real guns anymore, not even deactivated (too much paperwork I guess) - for example in Tunisia they had to use Sterlings with the back part cut up and replaced by aluminum, and without trigger, to accommodate the Tunisia laws - these are the Baptys. Thus in ROTJ they used the old resin Pugman Sterling also present in ESB, and the MGC Sterling. The MGC Sterling is a copy of the Canadian C1 Sterling which differs from the Mk4 (used as a base in ANH and ESB). The greeblies and parts on the ROTJ blasters also differ from the ones present in ANH or ESB E-11 blasters.

It is mind boggling to see how great the creativity of the talented guys at ILM worked out in the films!

You can see here an awesome video of a MGC Sterling firing blanks:

very cool, congrats!

Thank you :) I wanted a ROTJ MGC E-11 conversion for many years (only 4 sold in about 6 years, and only 2 were converted, and were in US - though not as good as mine). Looking back, I physically started my WTB threads on RPF's Junkyard, FISD, Prop Den, and on Rebelscum Classifieds on 22 July 2014, so almost a year since when I begun looking intensively for a good MGC. Glad this is off my list. Now a 1:1 AT-AT or at least an AT-ST :D

Since I'm quite sick of Made in China collectibles :p , is good to see a different thing from time to time - the MGC is made in Japan:
