We were wrong! It may feel like it, but the base definitely isn't plastic, I dropped it from waist height to destroy it earlier and it exploded into a million pieces.

I didn't think it was plastic but it sure feels like it... Almost like they allowed more air into the poly stone mix or something...

I imagine it reduces shipping costs more than anything. It wasn't good whatever the reason. Gone now though so I don't care, just hope future releases go back to being solid.

Should not make any difference, with the size of these it goes by dimensional weight.

Assuming it sits on its Base it isn't a bad piece, lightweight materials aside it looks nice once you step back from it.

You're happy with a Bio that won't sit on the stand safely?
I suppose that could depend on if you are planning on displaying it on the wall or desktop.

Most complaints I've read say the wobble/magnet issue is only when displayed in the desktop mode. I know with mine that's how it is, super strong magnet and very little play when mounted on the wall.

I'm more confused about the paint application being the deal breaker here. That's the one issue that can be fixed rather easily with some watered down acrylic paint. :dunno

Touching up the paint on this thing makes a world of difference in my opinion.

I'm happy with the look of it in my collection now, but these flaws and lousy customer service from SS were just too much for my taste.

I've been collecting replicas since the Icons Replicas days. This was my first replica purchase from SS, and it will be my last.
This thing had too many sloppy flaws and it just gives me a "we don't care" vibe from them.

I'm excited to see what comes of Chronicle Collectibles, they seem incredibly passionate about what they do. They will be getting my money when it comes to movie replicas moving forward.

They might be a little expensive, but from what I see.. it looks like you'll get what you payed for.

Mine wouldn't even sit on its stand, never mind safely, I just don't understand how the factory shipped these in this state? They must have been assembled before painting or packaging? A year of anticipation ended with a million pieces of smashed resin yesterday. Mine has been refunded.

They must have just tested a few and said ok, or not even bothered to check. Mine was barely acceptable, but still not great. It was good enough to use, but did not have that secure feeling like the older ones. It is currently in transit back to SS. This will be the end of the bio line I would imagine so they probably don't care that much.

Such a shame, I could look past the light base and magnet issues, and even the poor battle damage, but the dark color and bright silver lenses are just too off for me. ]

The bright silver lense is not a big problem.I will spray "Tamiya Smoke" in the visor. That is glossy and looks like smoked glass.

It isn't glossy at all though, it's just silver paint so Tamiya smoke will just come out as a dull black if you put it straight on top of the existing lens. You could try whacking on some real shiny chrome on first, shining it up and spraying the smoke over that? I've never tried it though so not sure how it would turn out, best to practice first. What I would have done however if I'd kept it is to place a sheet of thin plastic over the top of the whole thing and painted the under surface with the smoke. This will add reflections and correct the colour while allowing the grill to still be seen. I always assumed the grill pattern was behind the screen anyway or even integrated into it, it's hard to tell so the effect should be the same.

Ah your right...you must spray glossy clearcoat over the "smoke.Afer that you paint the mesh matt black with a brush or sponge. So you have the glossy areas only under the mesh. You can spray it with a very bright chrome first..after that smoke...clearcoat...and the last paint with a brush.I think that is a lot easyer as to cut the masks visor from the back.

I agree completely ;)
