But about the color of the eyes...I think the "silver" was not really bright. The originaleyes were very dark. The brighter effects on some pics are reflections.

No, it looked more black on screen, but you need to add a reflective surface otherwise they just don't look right. A long running problem with these.

I cannot figure out why this detail has been so hard to get right. Every replica I've seen has not been able to get the look of the lenses correct. Closest I've seen was maybe the HCG one.

Even the Icons replica had mirror like lenses that looked way to light and reflective, no matter what lighting conditions. They remind me of those mirrored aviator glasses motorcycle cops would wear. lol
The wrong look.

This would have been simple for SS to just slip a black shinny piece of plastic between the silver and the mesh when they made these. I can't imagine that would have bumped the production cost up too much, but would have helped make this replica look better and be a little less of a disappointment to so many. :slap

Your right.I think Tamiya smoke with glossy clearcoat over the silverlense would make the right effect.

Here's a easy fix that I did with the lenses,I went to the pet store and used the black backing for fish tanks and made a stencil of the lenses and covered them up..no glue or paint needed and looks awesome.

Nice work! Massive improvement.

Now, just to touch up that ''weathering'' of Sideshow's. :wink1:

I had painted my lenses with a gloss black for the time being, but this looks like it may be the way to go. Only downside might be the mesh is hidden.. if only there was a simple way to pop the mesh out without cutting. :(

Nice update...but now you must build a mesh over the black material.I would glue the black stuff+a accurate new mesh with double-faced adhesive tape on the sideshow mesh.

What I would do is STOP QUOTING THE FREAKIN PICS ON THE SAME FREAKING PAGE, MULTIPLE TIMES!!!!
We know what yall are referring to, and it's just plain annoying.

The mesh was on the inside of the visor for P1. Below you can see a battle damaged area of the lens with the mesh revealed.

In wearable helmets we sometimes use smoked motorcycle lenses backed with mesh to get the effect. When the light catches it just right you can see both. Not really doable without a good deal of modding though.

After watching Strength and Honour's review on YouTube of this piece... There is no friggin way I'm buying it. What a piece of ****!!!! Sideshow what the hell man! Your slipping big time! At one point I never had a bad word for sideshow, but now... Looks like we need a new company to take hold of the collectible world and start putting out some quality for all this money us lot through at it.

I mean, a PLASTIC BASE! Are you friggin serious!!! It was the weight that gave these masks the feel of quality!!!
Very annoyed!

I'm thinking the HCG Bio is the way forward.

.'. /_\ RP /_\ .'.

The base isn't plastic, it is just extremely thinly cast, I was expecting to have to saw mine in half to destroy it but it shattered when I dropped it from waist height.

This is the biggest disappointment of the year quality wise by a mile.

I think the old SS-Predatorstands would also break when you drop it from waist hight. But not in so much pieces because they are not hollow.I think when my P1 mask is ok I will open the the baseplate of the stand and fill the complete stand with plaster or something like that. Its a shame that I must do that myself...but I really want a P1 mask and the overall look is great.
