Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I REALLY want to see NC-17 (X) cut ver of P2, the one which had to be toned down back then before worldwide release I mean. Only if the studio decided to release it nowadays... We got P1 3D so why not?

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Great set of pics Python, especially the one above not see this one before. I always get excited when seeing behind-the-scenes or promotional images I've not come across. Should make for some great reference for me on P2 related sculptures further down the line. Thanks for posting!

In regard to Wolf, I agree. Everything came together for him so well as a character except the movie he was in. As much as I love the character, I took an instant dislike to Sideshow's LSF. For me the pose is much too dynamic and not really an accurate representation of what we saw in the film. I had the opposite reaction to the P2 maquette and ordered him in a heartbeat.

What he said.

Pose was an INSTANT turn-off . . . cross between a morris-dancer and a member of the bolshoi ballet.

Should have been titled "Wolf dances with the stars".

I'd heard about this - but not familiar with how much (or what) may have been cut for the theatrical version.

For that matter - were the versions released to the North American / European audiences different?, and which version was on the DVD?

According to this site: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100403/trivia?ref_=tt_trv_trv
All I know is, back then, the 1st cut in test screening were rated X so they need to recut it. What we have, despite locations, is R-rated version. What happened to NC-17 cut is unknown. Probably it was scrapped completely, thrown into the safe and throw the keys away. Waiting to be revealed like "Dallas became an egg" scene in ALIEN. Dunno. I'll be happy if they decided to release NC-17 ver though.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Appreciate the info and the link.

I'd sure as heck pay top dollar to get hold of ANYTHING extra from P2 - still LOVE that movie after all these years and probably over 50 watches.

EDIT - found this towards the end of the page . . .

"The following scenes were deleted from the final cut of the film: A subplot involving Maria Conchita Alonso's character pregnancy. The chase sequence where Danny Glover tracks the Predator all the way to the slaughterhouse distract was extensively longer. Gore and mutilations in all the murders the Predator had done including Bill Paxton's in the tunnel."

You are in the minority on that view, the pose is one of the best parts of the LSF. The P2 Maquette has just another boring raised leg pose sideshow does on way to many of their pieces.

While I do agree with the whole raised knee thing in general being overused, I think it is subtle on the P2 and it actually really suits the piece. It gives it a sense of motion without being over the top. Dynamic poses are very much hit and miss, get them right and they can be awesome but it can be hard to make a statue look dynamic and realistic at the same time I think. I really like the P2s pose myself.

I agree! The pose looks relaxed and slick like the City Hunter is in the film.

Yes, it is not bad, just not unique or interesting. I would prefer a more aggressive stance like the P1 or LSF, or if not at least be standing on something remotely movie related.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Nice pose...The base is a whole different issue.

Yeah, I'm trying to be positive though.. haven't you noticed? :lol The base would be better if they just removed the random teeth and skulls and left it as a simple rock or something. Aside from the obvious eagle building it is hard to think of a relevant P2 base to be fair. The little dio was very inventive mind being one of the pillars from the hotel room. I still think the dingy wet back alley would have been pretty cool with the king willy head in hand but aside from that there isn't much to choose from that would be recognisable I think, unless you fancy a dead cow on it ;)

No idea if I am or not - it didn't sell that many I seem to recall. Besides - I've always been a rebel (* still looks girly to me *).

As regards the comparison to the new P2 - well - 2 wrongs don't make a right :)

It's all personal taste though - I mean - not everybody understands my admiration for Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston - and I REALLY don't get some folks fixation on sports "stars" - it's all good. Each to their own (but I know who I'd rather have in my bed :wink1: ).

The apartment scene with those cool "Aztek" columns would have worked.

King Willy's head in his hands would have been an instant classic!

How about the best of both...

Have you seen some of the female Olympians recently? :yess:

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

LOL on the Olympians - now have this vision of Pammy running that marathon :hi5: - I'll have to take your word for it though as I haven't watched a SINGLE thing on the Russian games - ZERO interest.

Py - the dio thing was OK, but having him squat on the toilet version of those columns (playing catch) wasn't as cool as proper scaled ceiling-height ones would have looked with this piece.

Sideshow need to change their design team to shake things up a bit. Heck - they could always try to hire Narin again :rotfl

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Funny you should say, when a few weeks before you cancelled, you were giving others (including myself) a hard time about being judgmental about the base.

Just saying. :peace

...and I'm still getting it as long as they don't paint it up like the LSB :pfft:
