Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

Or....

What the factory made genuinely was just utter *****. We don't really know, this is a high end flag ship piece, to cancel it was obviously a big decision, this isn't like the Elder LSB where only a handful of us had actually ordered, at least 300 of these had been ordered at $1200 a pop, and that's without even taking the 1000 regs into account.

What we do know is this, SSC are regularly tight lipped, the Elder for instance was cancelled and never heard from again. In this case however we have a high up SSC official actively involved and suggesting he'd like to make the changes we'd all like to see and get this thing made properly. Nothing is set in stone because the guys that interact with us, namely Igo and Alex don't aren't in a position to make such promises with 100% guarantee, this leads to comments that some may interpret wrong understandably. Compared to the usual silence, this is a nice change imo and I am cautiously optimistic about this whole thing now. We all should be until something is confirmed over the coming weeks hopefully.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

That's the other point. That factory screwed up about 150 (I think, maybe more like 200) XM Black Widow head sculpts.
So on one side, it's possible that the factory itself had issues and couldn't keep up. On the other side, I wonder, XM catched it on time and had it fixed in a matter of weeks. Why couldn't Sideshow do the same, if that's the case?
Don't know, things don't add up to me, still.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

I bet Sideshow is down sizing licences. They're obviously in trouble and it wouldnt surprise me in the least if the comapny we know as sideshow doesnt exist in the near future. Not to say it wont use the same name but 'theres a storm coming....'

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

For what it's worth...

This license is very important to us and we will continue to work on developing new Predator products for many years to come.

Strange statement considering they've admitted they can't get this right.

All adds up to a price rise imo.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

Im willing to bet you wont see any pred statues from here on in.

Re: Predator City Hunter Statue and LSF!

It's simple...
Sideshow Collectibles wasn't about to make the same mistake twice, so when all the production models came in with netting on the legs, they made the factories take them all off.

Oh wait...

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

I don't get how some are saying compared to normal this is a good sign they're keeping us informed, and maybe they are gonna care about QC now….guys thats not, at all, what this means. They HAD to tell us something, as the piece has been delayed and ultimately cancelled…they know they gotta come up with something good…its just damage control. Keep in mind they had no problem delaying the batman PF plenty and then releasing it (almost 2 years I believe) so its not that the timing or making people wait is an issue for them. It was cancelled for a reason…they can make any piece they wanna make, that much is for certain. We won't see a predator 2 maquette anytime soon, all we'll see (if we do a get a predator), is a more expensive, probably open ES piece.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

Nobody likes open ES and all it does is hinder sales I'm sure. Point is they could have just said this is cancelled as the factories can't do it justice and that would have been that after a few weeks of complaining. Buy they haven't, they are suggesting this will return even better and actively communicating with us. Why would they do this if it weren't a genuine intention? All it does is raise hopes and keep the conversation going longer, not what you'd expect from company officials who had just cancelled a product. I'm surprised anybody is critical of this. Let's give them a chance if it officially cancels eventually, I'll join you in being very unhappy, until that time, assumptions and criticism won't help much. If anything, get your views in on what exactly you'd like to see altered should the chance arrive, perhaps the people who can make that happen will be reading. Positive thoughts ;)

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

The Iron Man MK VII 1:1 Bust suffered delay after delay for years, not months. No deposits/payments returned there.

SS have never had a problem delaying items time and time again in the past. So they're suddenly doing everyone a favour? Refunding payments and losing customers dependant on exchange rates money only to give them the chance to reorder in three months time?
Hope you invest those returned funds wisely to put towards your $1,400 P2 Maquettes :D

Yea…we did that when the piece FIRST came out and we're told to piss off and that there wouldn't be any changes…now however long after they are canceling the piece..its done..IF they bring it back, it won't be the same piece or a changed piece, that is a fantasy.. otherwise why cancel all the orders and refund us our money? They had no problem pushing batman back 2 years until they released it, whats another 8 months? The reason is bcz its not coming out, again, unless its an inflated or open ES product with a better price tag..and it won't be this piece thats for sure..this wasn't done bcz of QC issues, its a business decision…lets not pretend they care about the product they put out..if u don't believe me go look @ the apocalypse thread.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

If they plan on cancelling this, why don't they just say so? If they still plan on producing this, why refund everyone's money, then solicit orders again in a few months? I don't understand the logic. Perhaps they are looking for another factory and wont or can't hold on to customer orders until that contract is in place?

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

No cancellation just a delay...

However, we will retain your order information in-house and contact you first via email with an offer to rebook a Predator before it is listed on our site. We expect the solicitation to be within the next 3 – 4 months and the delivery of the finished item by the end of the year.

The only reason for refunding everyones payments is to put the pre-order back up with different terms.
Whether that be ES or cost. With Alex mentioning '2015 factory prices' I'd lean towards price.

Because it's now going to cost more to make it and SS isn't going to honor the $1200 price point. If...If, they do revise it and put it back up for order they'll open it up to try and get more orders at a higher price.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

I don't know about anybody else, but I certainly wouldn't reorder it at a higher price point.

Yeah - in order of best guesses from me . . .
1) Most likely - shelved completely.
2) Next most likely - exact same product, increased price to about $1399
3) Least likely - fix the major issues (dreds/bio/quills/spear) and (less serious) the base AND increase the price to $1499

We shall see my brothers . . . we shall see :wink1: :)

Y'all should just read the quote in my sig.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette (CANCELLED!... For now)

In a situation like this speculation is all we have.
Facts are there's lots of unhappy collectors being messed about.

One guy is left waiting for his $1,000 refund, chances are he'll be getting back less than he put in.
No Reward Point compensation on this one? People had only payed NRD on the Elder and were compensated.
