Predator 2: Shadow Predator (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

I'm on the fence about this pred. He's pretty cool no doubt, but I'm not sure he's worth the price. I did order him in case he sells out.....one day.....but if I decide against it I may cancel it. I mean I have almost every pred minus scar, chopper, the ancients, and AVP elder. Do I really NEED this guy?

and that means they get less return on the secondary market. which then removes the incentive to scalp the figures. keep in mind is isn't the P1, it's a predator with recycled accessories who appeared on film for two seconds. profit margins are gonna be slim as it is without the limited availability everyone thought it would have.

You're implying that a price increase would cut into the scalper's profits, and I'm just not clear as to how you're getting there. If Hot Toys charges $250, the scalpers will sell for $500. If Hot Toys sells for $400, the scalpers will sell for $800.

You've made it abundantly clear that there's no limit some collectors are willing to pay, so I don't understand how you're concluding that there's only so much markup the scalpers can add over retail price.

they'll sell it for what the market will bear. there's no mandatory 100% markup on the secondary market. this one will be considerably less than that now. and i never said there's no limit to what collectors will pay.

if you have the rest of the lost clan, i say definitely get it. if you don't have them, there's still no reason to not get it if you think it looks cool.

Well I do have the rest of them. I have Regular P2, Lost, Guardian, and Elder 2 so I guess from that stand point plus the look factor he'd be good to get. I'm just not thinking he's really worth 225.

HT preds always sell out eventually and there's no guarantee this will be available anywhere else besides SSC for less. your call.

The only people buying on eBay are their other scalper friend to mark up the price.

the price is high, it don't have many accessories, and it must not be as limted as we were lead to believe,
but it looks great, and will go great with the other predators, or will be a great stand alone predator piece.
i guess the new body and head sculpt , gives hot toys the reason for the higher price., i think $195 would be a better price,but i really love the look, and have to have it.

This new body just so blows away the old P2 body. Even though the calf armor is too high up his calves it still looks nice. The wrist bands on this shadow aren't sculpted to hot but all in all I think he looks cool. Be glad you didn't get the old P2 because they'll go back and redo him. They might go for Ram first and some of the others lost Predators but hopefully P2 will get the update.

True, this price should'nt be the case, but i haven't got any Preds yet so all of the accessories that come with this are new to me.

Just cancelled my order, in part to protest the shady business practice sideshow keeps treating its loyal customers by constantly drum up false urgency and inventory manipulation, clearly they knew they had thousands of those and the only reason for this priority order nonsense is to trick a few more orders. Making most of us who has to work wasting half a day for nothing.

Also the figure is just average, at $240 shipped i expect a lot more.

batman i am definitely keeping, worth every penny the amount of accessories you get.

i have yet to see anywhere that SSC claimed anything about the edition size. all they've said is they planned to sell it as a priority preorder, which was true. you've got this whole other story made up where SSC told you a certain number and changed it at the last minute just to be mean or "shady". that doesn't seem to be the case. all the talk i've seen about limited edition sizes was from other members on here and other collecting forums. SSC has nothing to do with that.

Sadly, I still can't order this because of the error that keeps popping up when I try to checkout saying I already have an order which I don't.

I already contacted sideshow via chat and the person I've talked to said he will place an order for me and will reflect on my order history it after 24 hours but it's already passed 48 hours and still nothing. Not even a single email confirmation.

Wrote SSC last saturday but have yet to receive a response. Seems they don't want me ordering the exclusives. My last option will be ebay but don't want to pay scalper prices on these.

Now that they are clearly abundant the nature of some people is showing.

I did not order Shadow but i did order OC Batman. Because i wanted to make sure i got one. Not because i hoped he would be a rarity and i could sell him for higher down the line or because i could use him as a part of my collection to show off over thoes less fortunate who didnt manage to get in a pre order in the window.

i don't like the price, for no more then we get with shadow predator, but i do love this predator,one of ht's best imo.
if it had been very limited as we all thought, then 90% of us would have never got to own one, unless we got it off ebay at scalper prices.
i'm .just glad sideshow could get it ,so anyone who really wants it can have it, even if the price seems a little high.
