Blackmask, I was not defending Hot Toys in anyway by saying that Tankman does better due to his love for the creatures.

I'm just saying that makes it easier.. But yeah, any professional sculptor should be able to accurately..sculpt them.

oh, I was not really answering to your posts directly but, sorry is my fault, I have been reading this thread and seeing the pics, but not commenting much, but after reading the people defending and the people bashing, I just wanted to post my opinion in general, but, I understand you,

but I still think that HT should be able to do an accurate face sculpt, the body is fine the accessories, I is hard for me to believe that sculpting the predator face is such a hard and impossible task, when there are other sculpts that are harder, or when people do custom figures and totally nail the sculpt, custom figures that look just like the movie, you would think a high end company charging 200 bucks for their figures would at least try to get the face right,
but they don't and they don't care which is fine but, like I said and Im just repeating myself, Hot Toys Does care, some of their sculpts look flawless, so when i see people saying that hot toys doesn't care, they are only half right,

they Don't care.. About the predator figures, because they seem to care about some of their other stuff more

With customs, someone is striving specifically for accuracy..It seems like the HT sculptor notices that the Predator sculpts will require more effort, more time, more practice more reference pics..so he says "screw it, they'll buy it anyway".

Idunno..

These threads would benefit from us just not mentioning Neca. Its turning decent boardies off coming into this whole section. I'm sure I've said it before and I keep doing it myself "I think Neca did this part better etc" but seriously with things I've seen said about A&R elsewhere its a big problem. All we're doing at this point is either preaching to the converted or p!$$ing people off. Next time I bring up Neca in a high-end thread someone take me aside and say A-dev....

^only I would have a more masculine hand than the above.

I mean, you are right, just makes me mad that it seems predators get the bad treatment out of the stuff they do,

Aliens even more so. The very first Alien Tsang ever worked on was the QC-lacking Warrior from the second film, and uh...

It's still a sweet figure and I've always dreamed of owning the brown repaint version (no really, if there's one HT Alien I'd always hold onto, it's that one), but the complaints regarding rubber and deterioration scared me off.

I would be afraid of it exploding if I touched it...no, if I blew on it.

I like the sculpt though, however inaccurate it may be.

Would be nice if they just didn't use the rubber.

Yep, my thoughts exactly. It's not like the rubber was really that big of a deal, anyway. Just slap a ball-joint under the ribcage and make sure it has a great range of motion, and you're good.

I've had two of that alien with the brown paint job. The figure is aesthetically pleasing, but I had issues with the ankles breaking on both of them. The AVP warrior aliens actually seemed to be the most well constructed even though they were the first ones Hot Toys put out.

Definitely with you, there. The AVP Aliens were problem-free for me, despite their being rubber and also Hot Toys' first attempt. I just wish the Alien Warrior wasn't such a drag, quality-wise. The ankle breakages, the flaking... Every now and then, you buy a collectible that a fraction of people had issues with, but you wind up fine. Sadly, I see even the possibility of luck with the Alien Warrior.

Yep. My AVP warrior is still alive and kicking as well with no issues. I'm right with you there on the Aliens warrior. I would have really liked that one to be somewhat problem free as the ones from Aliens were probably my favorite representation of the creature. It's weird having something like 15 Predators and just three aliens. I even have more colonial marines than aliens.

I agree completely with you guys about the Aliens not needing rubber. They should just re-release the damn things in plastic. They would sell. I would buy one.

I have 3 and there fine but you have to have nice stands for them and leave the alone for the most part.I do pose them but not as much as the pred's

It's surprising they managed to do a rubber figure justice with their AVP Drone, but if they couldn't pull it off a second time, there's a lightbulb that needs to go off. On the unfortunate side, that never happened. On the bright side, if we do end up getting a re-release, they'll most-likely update the sculpt.

That is a very nice diorama!

As for the rubber aliens - it was a huge novelty to me when I got my first one but ultimately feelings went sour when I noticed the paint flaking off. That plus the breakages my warrior alien suffered under normal use of the articulation.

Didn't you snap the neck on your T-600 as well?:(

Anyway, the display looks really great. :yess:
