Shadow uses the old "Predator 2" body which was bulkier in proportion. Hot Toys hadn't yet perfected a body style they liked yet for the Predator figures.

The Wolf Predator was the first Predator released to feature a slimmer look.

By the way...any pic comparisons of the HT Classic Predator next to the HT original Predator 1? I don't feel like digging through all the pages! :)

Came home and the third (and final) delivery attempt will be made tomorrow -- still at the exact same time. The UPS guy saw my note and wrote on the new InfoNotice that he'll try to swing by after 3PM (tonight or tomorrow, not sure), but that he's usually out of the area by then. Nice of him to try, though.
Great. Not sure what to make of that. Guess I'll see how the rest of the evening goes and if he adds any further information on tomorrow's InfoNotice (assuming he doesn't try again today). If I don't get some good news by tomorrow afternoon, I guess I'll just ask UPS to hold it for pick-up. Meep.

"shadow" looks bigger (height, fatness) than "classic" here.
is it just the angle & poses?

It's the angle. Classic is leaning forward abit as one leg is on the base and the other not.

Shadow uses the old "Predator 2" body which was bulkier in proportion.

Pretty sure it was a newly developed body and is the same as the Classic, (no ab joints, double-jointed elbows etc)

I got him on play too back when they were cheap.:wink1:

I remember the days when Play.com would sell HT figure's at a reasonable price, even Forbidden Planet did to. Ha, them days have sadly long gone now. Most are close to £300, some even more which is just crazy. They actually charge less for there PF's which is wierd. At least where got OSB over here.

I came in to this hobby a little over a year ago. So I paid a lot of money for some of my figures, figures that many of you purchased at a much lower amount b/c you were collecting when they were first released. I used to envy "senior" collectors for this reason but now I'm starting to believe I shouldn't, only b/c now I am used to a very high price point for my figures so shelling out $220 for a figure barley makes me flinch. (not sure if thats a good thing though)

You're right, my bad.

I had taken a quick glance at the photos when he first popped up so I immediately thought HT was reusing the old body.

I am an "older" collector and we saw the gradual price increase and discussed it continuously! :gah:

I first got on board with Hot Toys when they released the ALIENS Colonial Marines and the AVP Predators. The marines were about $90 a piece and I think the Preds at that time were $130 or $150. They were very impressive for the time and I was immediately hooked. Bought all the ALIENS, AvP, AvP:R, Predator 2,etc. figures that slowly came out after that but you could see the gradual increase in price.

I have since sold my collection and kept nothing, but have bought a few newer pieces here and there. The hobby is just waaay to expensive to keep up with all the lines I collected. Could I have done it and afforded it? Yes. But I just wasn't into it as much as I used to be.

I got around $20k for my total of figures (some loose and some MIB), I was able to pay off a lot of bills and a huge chunk of my car with it.

I don't regret it since and actually sort of find it kind of ironic that Hot Toys has been redoing and re-releasing figures that us "vets" were clamoring over years ago. Makes it easier for me to get that one or two figures I miss...but the updated versions of course. :) :monkey1 :monkey1

Someone (UPS) either lost my Classic Predator during delivery or decided to make my figure their Christmas present.

The tracking showed it was at a location five hours from my house a day before the schedule delivery date and then the tracking just stopped. Two days later I called UPS and they told me to call Sideshow, I did and Sideshow got them to start a trace. UPS claims it was scanned someplace else the day after the official site states, but didn't tell me or Sideshow where.

For the last week it's only stated that a trace has been started and I haven't heard anything for UPS or Sideshow since. I don't know when I'll get my Classic Predator now.

Nooooo! Hopefully it turns up soon or you get a new one shipped soon!

I remember when you were clearing out allot of your stuff in the FS section. You had some real gems, but I totally agree with your reasoning and am happy to hear you have no regrets. Still, you custom hicks was pretty awesome :lol
