its just mad, everytime i get something from the outside europe i think ive worked out what the customs will be then u get the bill & ya think what the hell? It doesnt help that the exchange rate seems to have a mind of its own when parceforce do there invoices, it never comes to the figure you think you had. It should be 20% vat added to what uve bought then the crappy handling fee but it never works that way, Ive always argued with parcelforce & customs that we shouldnt be charged vat on shipping costs or on a used item no wonder this contry got the label rip off britain lol We will always have a sheriff of nottingham to tax the eyeballs out of us haha

I thought it was just an urban myth that all Russians drank vodka.:lol
Actually it is. I hate vodka and never drink it, loving rum thou. RIDDICK loves vines and vermouths.
We can't play balalaika T_T and have no bears walking around. In the winter I'm wearing panama-hat, not ushanka.
But we have to bear (ahaha, bear! :D ) those stupid stereotypes with care, coz they are really fun!

You should check Portugal then... it's even worse to import stuff. VAT is 23%, customs charge for this kind of item is 4.7%, courier taxes are about 40 something euros at least for a $150 figure. Courier shipments are charged 100% of time because they themselves deal with customs to make it that way. EMS is delivered by normal post office but is charged about 90% of the time. Only normal mail is charged about 40% of time, and it doesn't matter if it's marked down and as gift, it will be charged anyway.

Is it worse than this on UK? :(

erm lol i thought we had it bad here but reading that your getting crapped on really bad, Is all that caused by the EU or has it always been like this when u were a sovereign country?

Hmm, it's been like this for years... Only the VAT value has varied, but not much less than 23%. One rule for orders outside from Europe to be sent to Portugal is to never use couriers! Never! It's an outrageous ripoff :( .

with such problems as customs that you seem to have there, whats your personal opinion on europe? do you think portugal would be better on her own obviously if the country was in good economic surroundings. Im not sure if the EU has any influence over customs or VAT in the UK or anyhwere else ?

I'm not sure if it would be best in these matters as that would eliminate the benefits of having an euro zone free of customs. I guess in that situation I would start to pay customs charges also when buying from the UK, and all the other euro zone countries. The way it is now at least we have a rather large zone without customs. On the other hand, the replacement of our old money (escudos) with euros has made everything more expensive. If we got back to our old money it would have less value, but that would help us export more I believe. But considering only the "buying stuff from outside of the country" thing I think it would even get worse. At least now I can get very good deals buying mainly on UK, e.g., on amazon (and they don't charge shipping for 25+ euros orders :) ).

They really like to ruin things for us while they get their pockets full... true story :( .

I also use a few other UK stores and get great deals a lot of times. Recently I bought the Mr.Bean boxset (with Teddy!) for about £17 shipped on sendit. I also buy all the DVDs from UK, and many times CDs too, but for CDs I always have to check the prices on the biggest local store (Fnac).

But for Hot Toys figures I don't even have much choice... I found one local store, but they have almost nothing 1/6, and the Neca figures they have are more expensive than ordering from outside. One store that still makes it worth to buy locally is ToysRUs, which usually has better prices to buy locally regarding Transformers and some LEGO Technic models. Still, regarding Transformers they only sell Animated and Movie. But I was surprised when Masterpiece Hot Rod droped by locally, for about 40-60 euros if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, currently for new Hot Toys figures I'm using OSB and CollectiblesDirect from UK. :) My Classic is pre-ordered on OSB, I guess they'll have it just next month too.
