I don't believe anyone said it wasn't a valid complaints just that in some of ours opinion it's not as important as the piece making it to us intact. I do have to ask what does being a SS Apologist have to do with anything. I was talking about collectibles in general. Some of you need to get off this everytime someone says something that they are being a SS Apologist.

And "some" of you need to stop minimalizing other collector's complaints every time they make them, just because "we couldn't have asked really for better than what we got from Sideshow Collectibles with all the great items and support".

I don't think anyone is minimalizing the complaints, but SS has proven more than reasonable when asking for a replacement box at no extra charge. So as long as the item arrives undamaged, the packaging has done what it was designed to. You can't honestly blame any company for how bad our packages get treated by UPS and Fed Ex. It's certainly not SS's fault that someone decided to try and kick a field goal with this Lurtz.

I've ordered direct from GG twice, both times the item inside was rolling around with one piece of crumbled paper and A LOT of open space. Easily the worst packing job I've ever seen from ANY company I've ever bought from.

Exactly! Nobody is saying anyones opinion is any less valid nor minimizing anyones opinions. That song and dance is getting old.

Well, we agree on one point, anyway; ANYTHING, given constant repetition, gets old. Even blind praise. I love SS's products as much as anyone, and I'm psyched to be getting Lurtz today, but I still don't understand why the SW PFs got the added protection, and LOTR did not. My box may arrive intact, but the added foam corner protection would have increased the probability.

no offense man, but thats kind of exactly what youre doing. I know you may not see it that way, but thats how it comes across.

The collectible is fine right? Well, that's what they are selling not the box. :)

All I said was that on the scale of things that the box is the least important when it comes to displaying your collectibles.

When you show off your stuff do people ask to see your boxes?

When you post a direct quote from a post and then post your opinion in the manner you do it comes off as you hold your opinion higher than theirs sometimes. if you would just post your opinion without linking it to a specific quote it would come across better. kinda like your throwing your 2cents in there and not directly challenging another's. and these -> make it seem moreso like you think less of their opinion.

.. but I dont really think you mean to do it all the time. just trying to give you some insight :D

I can't help how people take what I say. I'm just giving my two and if someone takes it wrong then they take it wrong. I'm not trying to do that but I can't help how folks take things.

I'm sorry graphic arts department and don't hate me but you could get rid of the nice picture box and just put the figure in the outer brown shipping box and I'd be happy. :)

Also, I realise it may be disappointing getting something that's not perfect when you receive it but looking on the bright side, a customer service form submission to Sideshow will get you a new outer shipping box so all is not lost.

Right, so people can then b!tch about have to pay an additional $10 for shipping.

There's a very easy solution to this problem, CALL SIDESHOW AND ASK FOR A NEW BOX!

No one should have to pay an extra $10. I've ordered plenty of other collectibles from many different companies (who surely ship as much if not more than SSC) and every single one has come double boxed and mint and I only paid the typical fair S&H cost most companies offer.

I've had to call SSC for replacement boxes and frankly, I shouldn't have to do that. Not to mention the replacement boxes come unassembled and it would be very easy to damage that box while trying to unfold it and put it together. Plus it comes flat in a thin box and some have even recieved theirs with a box that has been folded or creased so then where does that get you?

Then why are you always the one always leading the dance?
Man, you need to go back and read your own posts sometimes. Your elitist "SS can do no wrong" crap is like a broken record and you do sound totally condescending to people unless their posts was positive about SS and then you can post "I agree with you 100%!" or :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl . You're the most hostile poster here because you attack every single person with a complaint towards Sideshow like they just insulted your mother.
We all get it that you have no opinion except the one that is going to defend everything SSC does.
They aren't going to give you a job so you can just get over yourself already.

I can understand the point of purchase reason, but how cool would it be if the exclusives shipped in just a plain ol brown box. Theyre only sold directly thru SS (supposed to be anyway) and maybe this would help eliminate some of the price increase on exclusives.

I had the exact same size and location of the hole in your box in my Darkness bust box.....

Like a forklift had its way with it.

I don't understand why you complain ???

the statue is fine isn't it ?
the box did what it is supposed to be doing, protecting the statue.

So the box is damaged, I personally don't care as long as the statue is in perfect condition...

I would complain what the entire package looks like upon arrival, and I have complained. Sometimes I buy two pieces (when it's allowed) and keep one in the package untouched by anyone else's boogerhooks. If the box is jacked up to that extent, the integrity of the statue could be compromised. Jason Final Chapter arrived looking like it was tossed right outta the plane over my house. I was pissed off and the outer and inner box were moshed and I called immediately. Granted, my complaint is in the 7-day hopper at SS, but I'm not budging on this issue. The last five pieces (12-in and PF) have arrived in varying degrees of manhandling - pisses me off.

I never received a damaged box from SS but if I did, then I'd be pretty upset about it. When I pay for an item, I pay for the statue and the box it comes with. I want both of them to be in perfect condition. The good thing, however, is that SS will replace it without a hassle!! :D

Wow.. looks like the discussion is getting a bit overboard!!!

So i must say something in the matter : )

I think that for collecters like me, (who have to be the double for the piece in shipping etc) has the right to want a figure and box in perfect condition.

If I buy something for 350$ and then shipping etc finals it up to 600$ I sure want it in PERFECT condition, all of it!!!! even the BOX!!

Maby it's ok for you who don't ever plan to sell yours (though it would matter to me, If I paid for it I want it in one piece!) but I've like to have the possibility to sell mine(you never know whats comes up, I could get sick and need money for an operation or whatever!). I've spent alot on my collecting and if I ever sell it I want to get as much as possible for it. and thats not happening with a broken box!

SS provides a product and I pay to get it in one piece!

I think we can agree that ripped item boxes are bad, especially if they SSC boxes because they really are part of the collectible.

However I've bought from a lot of different collectible companies and they all ship the same - product box within the shipper - sometimes there are styro spacers, sometimes not. Sometimes bubble wrap or a plastic bag - sometimes not. SSC has shipped different items with all of these options as well as was warranted by the extensive drop tests.

But nothing can be impervious to the dreaded FedEX/UPS/Parcel Force damage inflicting experts.

Apparently some people expect SS and other companies to hand deliver all of their product to keep the boxes perfect. We use pretty sturdy boxes and the stuff we ship is comparable to size and weight of SS products, and you'd be amazed to see what some of the boxes come back looking like. Is that our fault?

I'm sorry my positive attitude towards SS bothers. :)

I'm sure I have my moments where I come across that way. However, 99.99% of the time it's someone else taking me the wrong way. I type whats on my mind. If that bothers someone then ya know I'm sorry but I've bitten my tounge many times over the my time here at SSF. I'm the most hostile poster here? Ok  You might want to go back and read plenty of your own posts.

I've said plenty of things about pieces from SS I don't like. A lot of the times though I choose to just skip talking about products I don't like. I choose to be positive about what I collect and how I live. I don't take myself seriously nor do I take what I collect all that seriously. They are great objects from great movies made by an awesome company. They make me happy and are a stress relief. My opinion tends to be positive so again I'm sorry that seems to bug your negative nature. I refuse to be like you though.

Well, how about after SDCC 2005 Matt Falls asked me to send my resume in after talking with me. He said my passion for the product and for SS was something he liked a lot. The only reason I have not is I would have relocate half way cross the country. :)

jlcmsu... maby you should try to type in a other way if people 99.99% of the times missunderstands you!

If he asked me, I would have done it just so I could work beside Dusty. :date ;) :D
