The thing is Josh, like I said, an assault rifle is basically cosmetics. It isn't automatic. It isn't concealable. They're more about looks than lethality.

You're right... The only real difference usually is the amount of bullets you can spit out at once, if set to Automatic, and depending on the rifle.

And it is about looks, it's to put fear in the eyes of your opponent, so they hesitate and you win by default. :gun

If you can switch it to automatic you are going to go to prison for a very long time just for owning it. Full auto is illegal. A handful of people have special licenses for those.

Give some reasons why you feel the way you do. A bone if you will other than I hate both sides or they both suck. I find it equally annoying when people who are "supposedly" in the middle just ^^^^^ and then add nothing. What it looks like is you're griping to gripe.
Not at all. 95% of the time I gripe in any political type thread it's because I'm annoyed by the myopia and the lack of effort by either side to even try and work to a rational common ground.

Why am I this way? I can't say with certainty why. Maybe it's the result of growing up in a household where I had a conservative Republican Father and very liberal Democrat Mother, so I was exposed to BOTH points of view at a very young age and therefore almost always worked to find the middle ground. My parents also fought on an epic scale (not due to politics, mind you) so I also grew up with a profound distaste for constant conflict between the same parties, and can see when it's futile and useless from a mile away.

So I gripe, because I think there is always a way to at least seek some rational middle ground and compromise. The problem is, when it comes to politics these days, too many people refuse to make that effort. I can only assume it's because it's easier just to maintain one's own morality, POV and opinion than to try and seek some balance.

But I don't know, you want any example of my politics? It depends on the issue really. I'm mostly moderate, but on some I lean a little Left and on others a little to the right. Just depends.

Thats all cool and I think if we sat down and talked we'd find out we agree on many points. I'm actually very moderate most of the time this election though just has me more to the left after the last 8 years. I would just like when an issue comes up to see your POV on something. I think it would be interesting.

Everyone but America.

And before the Obamanites jump on me... I'd say that regardless. It's like that AVP slogan, "Whoever wins... we lose."

I've been saying that for awhile, but when I say it, I'm told I have a bad attitude, etc. :(

Re: i was thinking..

Vote Nader (or any other third party that suits you). Don't let anybody tell you that you are "throwing away" your vote by doing so. People thinking like that is who we can thank for the current 'lesser of two evils' system we're stuck with.

That said, this is the first year I feel strongly enough to back a popular candidate.

Re: i was thinking..

I fear ANY Democrat president with a Democratically controlled congress. I wouldn't like a Republican setup like that either. It offsets the checks and balances and can allow some very partisan acts to become law with very little negotiation required. It's a blank check.

Re: i was thinking..

I don't support the health care idea that Obama is pushing. I'm not paying for someone elses doctor bills. We have enough of that going on with illegals clogging up the system and getting their handouts at our expense.

south park got it right :lecture you have to chose between a douche or a turd. both have been chosen by there "respective" parties for you. but you may not want either so do you really live in a democracy if you cant chose who u really want to vote for to be president :huh

Because the GOP wanted McCain to win, just like the DNC wanted Obama too. There was alot of bs going on behind the scenes.

So the RNC wanted an old, 2-time presidential loser who does not appeal to the GOP base to run, and the DNC wanted a less-experienced black man to run? Hard for me to fathom. I really believe that McCain and Obama had the best run campaigns and ground game. I think both parties were surprised by who was the most organized and who won.

True as well... you are certainly not limited to one or the other. Just find a candidate somewhere that aligns enough with your views and go for it. :duff

I don't plan on it. It is a free country but I have no problems with assault weapons being banned. There is no need for any person to own one period.

Just as long as "they' dont tread on your rights huh Josh?
Good thing "they" dont want to take away your virtual sniper rifle and lancer...
but wait some think those games promote anti social and violent behavior (ala Columbine).
Maybe not so far down the road.:horror
