Cool. Thanks Irish.

I hear the unfair disparaging of Christains all the time, but they hardly ever have rallies or turn violent. And I forgot about the wacky 'men = rapist' people. :lol

No, but they release major "documentary" films (such as Bill Maher's "Religulous") and silly "study results" in their attempts to ostracize Christians. That is probably where we disagree most. You think that violence is the most destructive form of intolerance. I disagree. Psychological intolerance is much more insidious, and potentially devastating. For example (and not that this is meant to imply any specific correlation to today), Hitler bred intolerance for Jews among the German people so successfully that it caused people to turn against their own neighbors and friends, not just nameless "others".

Another insidious form of intolerance on display right now by many people is the way they blame all of this nation's current problems/crises on conservatives/Republicans, despite volumes of evidence to the contrary (meaning, there is no one party responsible for the bulk of our problems).

McCain wants to tax your health benefits! .

This is one of the worst ideas I have ever known a nominee to put forth. Taxing your employer-provided health care benefits to pay for a "refundable tax credit" makes no sense, hence, why it has NEVER been done before. This really only benefits those without insurance in the first place...

They all want your money, Dems and Reps. McCain wants to tax your health benefits! They all find a way to stick their hand in your pocket.

You don't think your taxes will go up with Universal health insurance? One thing is for certain. Whoever wins the office, our taxes are going to go up and they are both lying through their teeth about it.

I don't like the idea of taxed benefits, but it beats socialist medicine every day of the week. Need an MRI?? Instead of this week, hope for next month.

I had a friend who was complaining of chest pains and discomfort. Went and saw his doctor and went through some preliminary tests. His doctor set up an appointment to see a specialist, and the earliest date available was in a month. Two weeks later he was dead from a heart attack. I don't need anyone to tell me how wonderful socialized medicine is, I see it everyday. It is nice to know however that the $25,000 my wife and I pay per year in taxes for healthcare alone, is subsidizing an element of society that always has it's hand out looking for government freebies.

Just wait until Barack "I'm a tax cutter" Obama starts socializing healthcare in the US. You guys are dreaming if you don't think your taxes are going to go right through the ceiling.

I agree that psychological manipulation of fears and intolerance is a very powerful weapon. I think W wielded that sword quite well to get us to go to war against Iraq. But I worry more about small rabid violent groups rather than psychological stuff. I personally prefer yellow journalism, propaganda and such to being attacked by locals if I had my drothers.

I don't necessarily see things that way, but you bring up interesting, thoughtful points about religion and the blame for all the woes on the conservatives. :duff

Thanks! :duff to you too. I think both of our perspectives have merit, and both forms of intolerance are harmful to society, and we as a people need to find ways to rise above them.

Yes, and the way Obama is describing his plan, if we want to get decent health care, we'll still have to shell out for private insurance premiums, in addition to the obscene (direct and indirect) taxation.

I totally agree! I just hate it when one side says that the other will do all the taxing. Like I said, they both have their hands in our pockets.

That's tragic and I'm afraid those types of stories will be all over the press here if Barac is able to pass this insanity.

Funny how you can't imagine what the other side of the street is yelling. Of course that doesn't matter I'm sure.

Does it matter? A horrible, disgusting thing to say is still a horrible thing even if the other side says them too, right?

It's just sad that some people honestly think Obama is a Muslim terrorist busing around loads of homeless people from state to state.

We're getting dangerously close to having to close down the thread.

Keep it on an even keel people.

Yes it matters because it's being presented as if it's a one side story. I agree it's horrible, and amazingly ignorant, but there are literarlly two sides of the street there.

What? Were you talking to me? Where did I defend the protesters? Where did I say it doesn't matter what they said? The protesters are not without blame but you seem to be assuming I think they are the good guys. I am appalled by the video mainly because the subject matter is appaling. I personally don't think it is funny to say that rape victims should die or have to pay double for their rape kits...

The protesters are not without fault, but the things coming from the people in the line are simply appalling. That simple. I think I even heard a derogatory name for gay people yelled out...

I still have feelings about taking things too far with hecklers (similarly to the protesters in this video) since Michael Richard's racial tirade a year or so ago...sure they can be jerks but there are limits, and I personally think the remarks in the video crossed the line.

Please correct me if I misunderstood your post.

You didn't misunderstand it and I stand by it. You posted it because of what the republicans standing in line are yelling out. What other reason or point were you trying to illustrate?
