I'm moving to an island. Presidential debates, congress pointing fingers at each other as to why we lost a trillion dollars today, the economy falling apart.

What the hell is happening to this socialist gov...err, I mean democracy.

so why dont we elect someone(obama) who is gonna make it more socialist. YAY! sounds good to me:banghead

Sounds good to ME. :monkey3
Not being smart with you but do really understand what an Obama presidency is going to entail? That if he gets all of his programs to go through there will be no way in hell that only the top 5% of wage earners will be affected. That these companies which are classified as the top 5% will offset their tax hike by raising the prices of their goods, by not hiring, by not expanding, even going as far to outsource more jobs to offset their tax hike.

Also realize when he wants to raise taxes on small business making 250000 or more that it will affect most business", which will also have the affect of less money for expanding, less money for training, less money for raises and benefits. I would hazard a guess that the majority of us on this site would be affected by a tax hike on our employer. I know alot of you are against the war in Iraq and the money that is being spent there, but one of Obama plans is to have an Anti-Poverty Act which he wants to send 850 billions dollars to over the next 10 years.

All you said is what i was about to type...its sad and so true...how is he going to put all this money into government when there is no money to be had.

I've read the plan and it makes sense to me... I guess you have to put on special "Left Wing" glasses or something. :D

But seriously, it sounds right to me. There is a LOT of money going to lobbyist interests that could be cut, close the loopholes here and there where money is wasted, and cut some programs that are unnecessary. Makes perfect sense to me.

During the Depression it took someone (FDR) to make America more socialist than it was and thank God he did. If it wasn't for the safeguards he put in place we really would be in an economic meltdown.

There's a reason why there's no concerns about going to the ATM to get money at WaMu or any other bank this week. It's because when the country had the choice of voting for More Of The Same or to vote for Change in 1932 the country voted Democrat.

NO. I'm not going to try to change the mind of someone who won't change his mind no matter what. Especially someone with the gall to have Palin as his avatar.

I don't have a lot against McCain himself, but picking Palin was the worst thing he could have done. And to see such blind support of a woman who has no idea what she is doing really baffles me.

I'm not going to fuel your fires with a link, sorry. I'll just be another dirty Dem who is too lazy to get one... whatever floats your boat.

And yet when the same thing is said about Obama, who is campaigning to take the most powerful position in this country Republicans are labeled dumb, close minded, racist(not on here). I would think that if Sarah Palin is as dumb and unworthy as you and others portray her to be that you would all be THRILLED that he picked her because it should gaurantee Obama the presidency. Because so many are so pissed, I can only come to one conclusion and that is the Democratic party is actually concerned that her being VP may cost them the election.

The concern is that Palin is a puppet pick to secure the election rather than legitimately for the country's best interest.

However, one can say the exact same thing for Obama as a flashy puppet pick for leftist democrats.

I just meant a link to the bailout plan that was rejected, that's all. I know it's out there. That's the plan I thought you were referring to.

She comes off like some random lady from the supermarket which the local news is asking for opinions on world dealings... Very hard to listen to...

I don't know if Palin is a doer or not. She's not a very good interviewee apparently.

I don't know if Obama is a doer or not. He's a good speaker.

Its hard to know exactly what we're getting out of anyone anymore because even the best speech or interview is just talk.

If you have trouble communicating your ideas, it doesn't matter if its to the media or to the white house staff... its a problem.

Agree, but you get longer than 5 minutes total and 20 seconds per issue to do it in the real world.

Then again, I don't know her, she may be the same for 2 hour long conversations.

I agree to a point. For example, that has obviously always been one of Bush's failings. I've heard people (both politicians and people in the media, conservative and liberal) who continually scratch their heads over the difference between the way he is able to communicate with them when the camera is off and how he becomes a "deer in the headlights" once he has to speak in any public setting.

Obama's strength is that (at least when given a script) he can give the illusion of caring, and really engage his audience. Palin obviously doesn't have that same ability, and she also apparently gets flustered when she feels that she is being "threatened" by an interviewer.

I don't think she is as "dumb" some are trying to paint her. Her performance during the convention, and the accolades she received for it, from both sides, disprove that claim. I think we will need to see how the debate goes before reaching any kind of conclusion about her communication abilities.
