yeah ... just check out how good WETA Kong products are doing after the insanely high ES on everything. Im sure all the collectors that paid around or near the initial $600msrp just LOVE seeing it not selling for even $150 now...
... and on top of that how wary collectors were of the pieces they put out post Kong because of those inflated ES's

... I think many are forgetting that a crucial part in collecting is this thing called "value".
You want to destroy the value of everything just so you can have evertyhing .... thats destroying the hobby just to fulfill your own selfish wants ...

The VALUE is the BEAUTY of the piece. NOT how much it resells for. If the beauty of a piece is worth the price, buy it. If not, then don't. In the end, that's all there is. The price should be determined by cost of production and distribution. If you make enough of a thing, it can be made cheaply enough that almost everyone that wants one will be able to justify spending the money to buy them for the beauty that the PIECE PROVIDES TO THEIR HOMES.
Buying something just so it goes up in value for a very FEW people. THAT is selfish. Making something artificially so expensive that only a few people can afford it-THAT is selfish. Selfish means putting the wants of the few above the wants of the many, NOT the other way around.

To me, the hobby is about accumulating beautiful things I have a passion for. I don't care about the money. Actually, I want them to be worth less. There are a lot of ways to make money, such as selling stocks, which DON"T take up space in my house, and I have no emotional attachment to at all, whatsoever. If you only want something for its monetary value, you don't want it for what it INHERENTLY is.

I think that if it's a good guy, he should be less expensive so everyone can afford him. But if it's a bad buy, he should be really expensive because people probably shouldn't look up to bad guys and they should be so expensive that only the criminally rich can own them, because that's the only people that would want them anyway.

If you think I'm being serious, you missed the other thread that was along this train of thought.

No, basically, I think these are just plastic statues, and there is no reason why they should be so expensive. I'd really like to know how much they cost to make.

so in other words, you would potentially have no problem spending $5000 retail total on a line of statues and they all plunged to $300 total value in aftermarket selling and all the people around you were buying your exact same collection for a fraction of the price you paid? .. cause thats exactly what would happen with insanely high ES's .....

..... youre theory is currently being played out at SS though. Go compare the lower ES reselling values of Marvel pieces against the high ES's of the Star Wars pieces ....

Why do you think there is value in Gold? ... Why is Platinum worth more than gold? it sure isnt better looking? Why are diamonds worth anything? Theyre clear ROCKS! :.....

get your selfish blinders off and acknowledge scarcity is probably the biggest fuel behind collectibility ...... i mean WHO THE ^^^^ IS HONUS WAGNER!!!??? :lol

Is there a difference between plasic and resin and polystone?.. Just curious..

BTW I like my collectibles limited..

plastic is definately more durable imo, more flexability and won't snap like poly will. plastic is also made with heat, while poly isn't.

try putting a broken, or valueless piece of poly in the oven.:lol:lol
no don't, i did and you better get every window open, cause it sure stinks, and it cracks all to hell.:(

resin, i believe is just another term for plastic.

now when you get into clays and porcelain, those medias have to be baked to harden, and again are more fragile.
:mad::mad: damn UPS :mad::mad:

:lol:lol:lol

wtf did you bake??

wtf did you bake??

oh it was one of the many pieces that UPS damged on me, and i was trying, or thinking :banghead (not) that the paint would cure quicker if i baked it.
well the paint dryed quick all right, just the poly turned to silly puddy.:horror:horror

oh yeah, and it stunk up the whole house. good thing the old lady wasn't home, she would of freaked and thought the stink would of been permanment.:D

They all are basically plastics. Just different ingredients.
Polystone is the strongest because it's mixed with rock dust and most chip resistant of the 3 but, more brittle.(No! Not that kind of rock dust! So,don't even try to smoke it!:duh)

Gold is valuable because it is impervious to most acids, it doesn't rust or tarnish, it is hypoallergenic, the most of any metal, you can hammer it cold without it work hardening, and it is an excellent electrical conductor. It isn't as good a conductor as silver, but because silver oxidizes, gold is a better contact material. Also, gold is rare and inherently FINITE on this planet. Platinum and other precious metals are finite, too, which is why, apart from being useful, there will and can never be any more of it than there already IS, UNLIKE plastic statues, which are made from an oil derivative. Oil is the second most abundant liquid on planet Earth. Diamonds are not only beautiful, they are archival. They, like gold and platinum, last forever. Diamonds also make great cutting tools. Gold and platinum are all pretty things that are useful, last forever, and are inherently rare, as opposed to artificially rare. White diamonds aren't worth anywhere near what they sell for. Their price is artificially controlled, and aren't really worth that much. Colored diamonds, like yellow ones ARE rare, and actually have some value.

... :lol .... thats an expensive cutting tool most give their fiancés when they get engaged ....
... and I know everytime my wife walks into a jewelry store she gasps ... " .. my honey ... look at all the useful materials in here!...." .. :lol ...
dont kid yourself ..the value is based in its rarity. otherwise it would be no different than all the other metals .... but obviously you can talk yourself into anything .. so theres no point in going on any further with this ....

Some serious drama queens in this thread..

Times like this make me happy that I'm me and not some dramatic ho..

Also doesnt a limited edition size make something FINITE like your point on gold?.

^^^^ SAYS WHAT?..
