Those two should never be in the same sentence.
You can't compare Hasblo to Sideshow...

Why does it make no sense? Do you know for a fact that the items cost a lot to make? Whatever you make, only the production costs and the shipping costs change. I have a feeling that Abomination could be sold for $150 and still make a profit.
Both Harbro and Sideshow pieces are made of plastic. The main difference is sculpting. I seriously doubt that the Sideshow pieces really cost much more to make than Hasbro's, once the molds are made, other than the fact that they make so few.

"Because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."
They want to watch it burn in a oven...
Da Jonas and O'Hearn stuff is making me fall outta my chair!

A very entertaining thread indeed.
I thought half the fun of COLLECTING was due to the fact that some pieces are more rare than others and worth more than others. That's why I collect these statues. That's why I collected comics, and sports cards, and several other things.
If everything was equal and enough supply existed for anyone who decided they might want one at some point in time, it would be a rather boring hobby.
I'm totally with JBinny on this one. Many people today feel entitled to things that they probably can't afford, but because someone else has it, they feel it's unfair that they don't have one, and they somehow think they should have one without working for it. It's the way our world is going today. "Share/spread the wealth" seems to be gaining in popularity now a days. And why shouldn't it? It's mush easier to take a hand out than work a 9-5 40+ hour/week job. Didn't work hard while you were in school and decided to party rather than study for your tests in college? Well, you deserve the same exact salary as that person that studied hard in school. Mismanaged your company's fund and need help? Well you deserve a bailout. It goes against everything that my parents ever taught me, which was "Hard work will be rewarded and laziness/stupidness/failure will NOT be rewarded." It's a bunch of damn bleeding heart liberal hollywood BS that the media, professors, and actors are shoving down the masses willing and sympathetic throats. It's like were turning into communists. Didn't Russia already try this once where EVERYONE would be equal? Yeah, that worked out real well, everyone was equally poor. We live in a supply and demand CAPITALISTIC society (or at least used to). It's worked out rather well, up until government decided to wipe the ass of everyone that failed. Why don't we make it so Kobe Bryant makes exactly the same salary as the worst player of the NBA... or better yet, the guy working the counter at the 7-11. How about if everything is branded GENERIC, so there is no variety, and no one particular brand is better than another. That will be real exciting.
This has nothing to do with "respect for people," manners, or whatever else you are suggesting it. I worked hard to get where I am. You think I could afford these luxuries when I was in school working my ass off? Hell no. That's why I worked hard. I knew good grades = higher pay. Along with appreciating the workmanship that was put into any piece, I like that certain pieces increase in value, it keeps in the hobby. Why am I supposed to care that not everyone can afford these things? We live in a class system. Upper/Middle/Lower. It's unfortunate that there aren't lollipop trees and gumdrop bushes, where nobody dies, everyone is rich & happy, but this is life. Not everyone can have everything they want. I wish I could collect Corvettes and Porsche's, but sadly I can't afford them. I accept it. I'm not looking for the car dealership to lower the price of a Corvette to the same price as a Hyundai. And I'm certainly not looking for the government to buy me one with money I didn't earn on my own.
I have to ask, who is dude eating the popcorn?
Seriously?
That's Michael Jackson, when he was still mostly black.
HASBRO = $7.99
Actually, I didn't. Someone else said that Hasbro was cheap PLASTIC and implied that SS was NOT plastic. Maybe he just meant that SS was expensive plastic.
If you wanna buy cheap PLASTIC comic book pieces buy Hasbro not Sideshow.
great likeness on that Hasbro Harvey.
That's funny...I thought that was michael jackson, then thought, NO, It's gotta be someone else...

Its not about entitlement. Its about real world value. A Corvette is worth the price they charge. Many of these statues aren't even worth half of what the price is. That's the big difference.
