Are really this stupid?

I never said that SS was not plastic.

I said :

Which meant, if you want a CHEAP PLASTIC ITEM buy Hasbro.

You were the one complaining about how much SS's items cost. I gave you a cheap alternative.

Sideshow's items are limited collector items. Most are made from polystone which is a form of plastic.

Understand now? :rolleyes::rolleyes:

That's Mattel not Hasbro. :monkey3:D

Sideshow figures used to be $40. Now they are $80 while the cost of everything else in the world has not doubled. Can you explain that?

You never answered my question.

Do you understand now?

You must only read what you want to hear.

Corvettes are being sold at roughly GM's cost right now. Not true of the statues.

That's because they can't sell them at the moment.

On the other hand, SS's pieces are in demand so they can sell them for more than cost.

That's called supply and demand. Ever hear about it?

The Sideshow products are much better than Hasbro, but that isn't the point.
The point I'm making is real world value. If you can make an exact replica of something, then the real world value of that thing is only worth how much it costs to make that replica. Again, SS pieces used to be much more affordable compared to other things. Care to explain?

Look at the company name, it is Sideshow Collectibles...they are a collectibles company not a mass manufacturing toy company. That is the reason that everything they make is limited, some pieces more than others. If you don't like it or can't afford it then move on because that is not going to change.

A collectible is nothing more than something that can be collected, which is to say accumulated for ones own personal possession, ie collection. It also indicates making something that has no other value other than to be collected. You can't DO anything with a statue, and since most of their action figures are so elaborate, they won't be played with (kind of like elaborate swimsuits that never even get wet, nor are they even meant to, and hence aren't REALLY even swimsuits anymore) nor can you DO much of anything with anything else they make, and thus, they are strictly collectibles, and not tools, or anything else with any practical value. They are all basically emotionally based driven type products that are intended just to be looked at.
Something DOES NOT need to be limited in order to be collectible, NOR does it have to be valuable. A valuable collectible is an INVESTMENT. There can be investment value IN collectibles, but that isn't their explicit purpose. Their explicit purpose is about the art and about how they make people feel to look at, which is why people make them and buy them in the first place. Unless of course you have no passion for them and no soul and only buy them for investment value with no regard for the art, in which case you might as well be buying stocks, but I digress.

Actually I do think that if you ONLY buy art for it's investment value you lack passion or soul. I think that most people who buy art with an eye on it's investment value do tend to have an appreciation for it's artistic value. There is usually some degree of mixing investment value and artistic appreciation when it comes to art investing. However, if there was someone who bought ONLY for the money, I do think they lack soul. As an artist, I really appreciate it and have a great feeling when someone appreciates my art, and when that happens, I'm glad just to give it away for free. I have done so many times, just for the joy of making people happy. On the other hand, I have no interest in giving people art who don't appreciate my art, at ANY price, unless I NEEDED the money. If I didn't need money, I'd love to give all of the art make away, only to those people who like it. This is one of the reasons why I don't care for flippers.

Hmm... but still, saying they have no soul would mean that they're some sort of heartless, evil, demon-spawn... would it not?

Think about it...

Don't you love it when a noob comes in and starts complaining about the value of these statues. It happens about twice a year. :gun

So,....does anybody know when they will announce the Exclusives ES? I thought they would do it last week.?

And yes. We should keep the peace in this thread.

A thread about a great piece, and let's keep it at that.
But there's always some people who will try and ruin it. :(
