There are a few man children on youtube who are more into acquiring stuff and bragging about it than the actual subject matter. No creative ability whatsoever and once you get that much factory-made in a room it just ends up looking like clutter anyway.

I got rid of all my neca and cheaper goods with the exception of like 3 items. Abd the koto Aliens. And decided to go with a high end classy look. That dude has expensive clutter which actually makes no sense. It's all so random.

Wow, thanks for the info of putty. Hopefully I can find it around my area. =)

Looks messy and can't focus on the statues.

You can also place the museum putty on heads, limbs, etc, that have weak magnets, it works wonders. Like the Dog Alien, it has no magnet at the tip of its tail. It sits very gingerly. I placed a tab of museum putty on the key, and presto, the tip is going nowhere.

is it pretty easy to remove the putty once it's on?

Only started watching this guy recently upon buying a Pred Cinemaquette. Didnt know this guy had a bad reputation. Seemed chill on his videos

He's tried and possibly succeeded in scamming people before. Believe it or not, I "accidentally" sold him an item recently, but luckily for me it was a smooth transaction.

This one minute video shows you from start to finish. This one is museum wax. I prefer putty because it’s like Play-Doh, easier to handle, you don’t have to use a handle or anything, just grab a piece with your fingers and shape it into form.

Most of these videos use small figurines and other collectible, but trust me, it also works on a large heavy one like my P1 Dog Alien and CoolProps Giger maquette. Just make larger putty balls.

That’s why it’s called Museum putty or wax, because museums use this to secure their rare high prized statues, vases, and other artifacts.

I actually did up a mock moducase setup with my planned to get statues. Only have room for 2x3 cases, but kept 3x3 for when i move out. Still need to add the planned Alien / Terminator pieces. Looks awesome having two statues per moducase

Getting excited. It's March and they haven't changed the date on the p1 page. It would he so exciting if they start shopping this month. waal-05dx_a01.jpg

Since the es is way lowered too, yeah. This bad boy might be on time.

450 all together is such a low amount. I'm pretty shocked by that actually. 100 of the museum and 100 of the regular 250 dx. That's so low. The dog had 1800 all together. I'm very curious how the warrior will be.

This pandemic definitely has made an impact on collecting.

Collecting was slowly doomed anyway as prices have gotten beyond the ridiculous.

In a way, but tbh I have done sculpting and mold making with resin casting. And finally airbrushing, and it is not cheap...especially when you hire someone that is top of the line at sculpting then 3d printers on top of top of the line paint app. Also not to mention the licenses which for Alien and predator is astronomical.
Then you're making hundreds of these statues. I totally understand why 1/3 pieces are 1400- 2000 dollars. Easily. There are less quality and pieces out as well, but with inflation prices like all items for sale will inevitably go up in price.

Missed this. Very interesting... I suppose one could make some small covers for the holes, perhaps using Sculpey and painting to match.

Heck, you could sculpt and paint your own smaller base attachment with pegs to slot in. Tempted to do some hive gunk with an egg, something similar to this:

Shipping cost is what has gone through the roof due to the pandemic. Whilst statue prices for some scales (esp the 1/4 and 1/3 line) has steadily increased, roughly in line with (or maybe a little more) purchasing power, which is no surprises. Also more larger scale statues are being made, which of course costs more to make, further adding to the perception that costs have spiralled out when in actual fact, pieces have just gotten bigger.

Be nice to see how this turns out. It's stupidly expensive. But if it turns out really (REALLY) good, I might be tempted to order one, possibly the museum pose given there are only going to be 100 in total.

I'm sculpting Gigers original "single slit" egg to go with the chap. I'll need it in hand first. To make sure the scale is right, the Alien3 egg I did is technically 1/3 smaller than the egg in Aliens. And I'm using the measurements from Gigers film egg to make a version for the chap. I'm attaching the real single slit egg that wasn't used. I don't think it was painted yet. But I like the idea of it. But I so do love the iconic Egg from the film so it's a toss up right now alienegg.jpgalienspore.jpg

Oh snap, I hadn't seen that prop before. Is the single-slit egg what Brett was morphing into? No wonder it looked different from the other eggs.

Would you be willing to share the original Giger egg measurements? If I end up buying this statue, I might try modeling mine on the computer.
