I'm pretty sure the alien's biology is adaptive only to a degree -- meaning if the host is bipedal, then it assumes a biped form -- but I don't think it is so adaptive that it conforms completely to a local form for that 'world' -- otherwise it would get rid of it spines, etc, and the biological idea might be closer to a fully adaptive creature; a copycat alien like Bodysnatchers. The alien seems to retain much of its "alieness".
I like friendly banter. Actually I mean the brain of the host and the environment they are in, not the environment the FH is in. But I see your point.
