Yeah, I don't care what body it looks like, it's a great improvement and that's all that matters really.:chew

I'm happy for the new body but as an artist (with a Major in the Arts too), I feel a strong animousity toward plagerism. :monkey4

Maybe there are factors that I obviously don't know...Volks doesn't have a patent, maybe the designer of that Volks body now works with Sideshow, maybe Sideshow bought the body design from Volks...I don't know... I just kind of was really excited that Sideshow had some creative initiative only to see they basically copied it from someone else....and obviously too. :monkey1

Yeah, I would say Sideshow definitely took their inspration from the Volks body, with a bit of Hot Toys true type in there also.

If its better than buck and on par with true type than I am happy. I dont care were the inspiration came from.

Holy ****!

I though the arms and hips looked familiar. And I was just going to buy those bodies, too!

Wow. Doesn't make me any less excited, but wow.

Actually I somewhat agree with Bardoon.

It's weird. But Hot Toys helped.

Yup. If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin' hard 'nuff!!!!

BIG FAT DITTO!! :chew

DOUBLE DITTO!

& FYI - Us Volks collectors suspect that the Neo-Guy never made into any sort of mass production because their figure is more model than action figure. 1 or 2 days of posing & they're loose & as limp as a 10 yr old figure that's been thoroughly abused.

Several co's have tried to go the Neo Guy route, only to meet up with failure. It's my guess that Sideshow didn't bring out their Neo Promethius Guy long ago like everyone else with the Neo Guy bug because they didn't want to fail at a better body and because of this, they've created a superior version that will completely kick ass!

Who knows, maybe it'll be VOLKS themselves who'll now come out & copy Sideshows excellent craftmanship!

In the end, us collectors end up winning!!!
:D

*ss*

Makes me wonder.

The 'child' body will be modular. It's an exact mini of the HT True Type with a few changes. And the HT body can be taken apart pretty easy to do that.

What about this one?

This is weird. :google

Wow, some people are looking for any reason to be negative with this very good development. The details on this body are not all out yet, but it's looks like a great step forward from the Buck and in the end isn't that what matters. Better articulation, look, feel, etc...?

I believe Sideshow claims that the Prometheus was developed all "in-house" with just some advice from Hot Toys (and some obvious inspiration from the NEOGUY).

The Child Body and the Armored Body were co-developed as they say but I believe all the design, prototypes and final models was Hot Toys itself...hence why they have more of the "TrueType" style to them. Hot Toys has probably supplied the body molds to Sideshow so they can make copies for their own factories.

I don't see any bashing, but thoughtful discussion.

I didn't say bashing but negative reactions to the new body, calling it Plagiarism and mocking it as a old design from 2001 is not negative

No doubt obvious. It's the exact same except for no muscle detail, the HT neck and the SSC wrist pegs. Or are the wrist the same on the NeoGuy?

I don't care if they flat out stole the design. The Buck is dead, and we've got a killer new body. :chew

Regarding the hobbit body and a picture....
Here's what screamingmetal posted months ago (from cooltoyreview.com)...

I'm not sure if a better picture was posted at some other point.

Is it negative if it is true? Prometheus looks pretty close to the Volks.

Either way, I don't think anyone cares in the end. The buck is dead.

No you're right, the wrists/ankles on the Prometheus are different from the ones on the NEOGUY...there's another difference. The NEOGUY doesn't have the ball-joint wrist/ankles from the look of it...

Amir, there is no negativity coming from me here...I LOVE THE PROMETHEUS, but I'm not going to turn a blind eye to seeing its obvious similarities to the NEOGUY...and with what I know, it looks copied. HOWEVER...I even admitted that perhaps there are factors related to the NEOGUY/Prometheus comparison that WE ARE NOT AWARE OF. Still, the similarities are so alike that you can't write it off as a coincidence.

Like EVILFACE said, it's just thoughtful discussion.
