No you're right, the wrists/ankles on the Prometheus are different from the ones on the NEOGUY...there's another difference. The NEOGUY doesn't have the ball-joint wrist/ankles from the look of it...

Amir, there is no negativity coming from me here...I LOVE THE PROMETHEUS, but I'm not going to turn a blind eye to seeing its obvious similarities to the NEOGUY...and with what I know, it looks copied. HOWEVER...I even admitted that perhaps there are factors related to the NEOGUY/Prometheus comparison that WE ARE NOT AWARE OF. Still, the similarities are so alike that you can't write it off as a coincidence.

Like EVILFACE said, it's just thoughtful discussion.

Nope. The Neo guy has the same ball jointed ankles and wrists.

Same here, I think it's a great body and I'm just curious as to why.

it would have been better if its not a copy design. every 1/6 company creates their own design and each one has their own unique strength and weakness. by using existing designs it just seem likes cheap way out to killed off the buck. At least the wrist joint on the buck was SSC's trade mark ground breaker. This one is a combo of multiple break thru done by others.

but these things are hard to tell from the pix, perhaps ssc's new promethus has some tricks that are unique to its own that when compared to others will shown to be a better/new design.

so far, the only concern I have is the armor body, for characters like boba and vader, where the skinny legs would look pretty bad without armors.

It will have its own thing. Just like if I see a team run a play I like. I take it and tweak it to fit my players.

Regarding the hobbit body and a picture....
Here's what screamingmetal posted months ago (from cooltoyreview.com)...

I'm not sure if a better picture was posted at some other point.

Thanks, that was the picture I wanted to see... so basically thats what we have for our 1/6 Sideshow figures right now. I do hope they have some height adjustment with the figures as well. I like that not everyone was the same.

I don't think Vader, the Fetts or any other lightly armored character will use that body. I think it's more for fully armored characters.

Fingers crossed for Vader and Boba, but hasn't an insider reveiled here on the boards that Sideshow is moving away from the Star Wars licence?
Not sure, but that is what I remember.

anybody here actualy own any Volks figures, or are you just basing it on the photo?
While I don;t have a neo guy, i do have one of their other bodoies. if the neo guy is made from the same plastic, he'd be more brittle than a medicom kai. Also, The knees, and other joints are designed differently.
Here''s some photos from jimbowan that show how the joints are designed.

while there are simularities, i'm sure there are enough differences too. But we won;t know for sure untill we have them in hand.

I'd doubt they are moving away if they just invested in armor and new bodies. I'd say if anything they are even deeper into in now. We do get people worrying about that... but I'm not aware anything indicating that from Sideshow.

Nice that the Volks has a camel-toe built in. Poor Padme wouldn't have a chance :lol

DOUBLE DITTO!

& FYI - Us Volks collectors suspect that the Neo-Guy never made into any sort of mass production because their figure is more model than action figure. 1 or 2 days of posing & they're loose & as limp as a 10 yr old figure that's been thoroughly abused.

Several co's have tried to go the Neo Guy route, only to meet up with failure. It's my guess that Sideshow didn't bring out their Neo Promethius Guy long ago like everyone else with the Neo Guy bug because they didn't want to fail at a better body and because of this, they've created a superior version that will completely kick ass!

Who knows, maybe it'll be VOLKS themselves who'll now come out & copy Sideshows excellent craftmanship!

In the end, us collectors end up winning!!!
:D

*ss*

ahh missed this post. Yeah, i REALY HATE having to Tighten the screws once a day on my volks figure :(
I do not see sideshow making the promethus a floppy figure like the neo guy :)

I have 2 Neo-guy volks and one is still in it's box because I never could decide which character deserved this $50 base body. It also is Medicom scale rather than Sideshow 1/6, so the character would have to be short.

I'll second Serg's comments that the plastic is brittle and the whole body feels very fragile and floppy.

It is a beautiful design though and I'm hoping HT adopts the Prometheus as well. There are just so many ways to skin a 1/6th cat and to address the 2 problem areas with the Buck - how the hips and shoulders look under clothes, how many other ways are there to solve this problem other than what the Prometheus provides?

I'm really digging the new body so much, I can't even tell you! I hope that we can get these for conversion. Even if we aren't offered a connector, I can just chop the neck and glue the old Sideshow head onto it. Instant connector!

Can't wait to see some action shots.

The Buck body probably costs just as much to assemble and reproduce as any other figures on the market. It may have poor articulation, but it's made of quality plastic and very strong joints. Even better than Hot Toys. If they charge more, it is simply because they can. Forget 'research & development'. I am a bit disappointed too, because I was hoping to see genuine 1:6 innovation. I am still very happy to see new bodies. Hopefully they make the new hands concaved at the wrist so the pegs don't show.

Now for TRUE 1:6 innovation, Sideshow, release a realistic proportioned female body! You would be the first company to ever do so.
