The new Prometheus body is even uglier than the buck! :lol Looks like it should be just as articulated (but where did the mid thigh joint go?) if not more so. It will be interesting to see how the new wrist joint works, because that was my favorite feature on the buck body.

It is odd though that the amored body isn't just a thinner Prometheus. Can't wait to get Obi-Wan and Indy to test out the new bodies.

I guess Gandalf might not be on the Prometheus then?

There's no need for mid-thigh joints, that articulation is built into the hip area.
The wrist joint looks like the same type as HT uses on their figures, which works great and looks much better than the ugly monstrosity SST used on the Buck...

Re: Sideshows new bodies pics

Yeah it doesn't bode well for Gandy. They could still change that or make an annoucement. Here's hoping.

And what about the ladies?? Can a female Prometheus body be far behind? I hope they are hard at work on that one as well. Hopefully for Marion, future Leias, Aayla Secura, Arwen, Galadriel, Eowyn, etc.

Re: Sideshows new bodies pics

I think we should all accept that Gandalf is gonna be on a Buck and make peace with it.

Re: Sideshows new bodies pics

Prometheus looks like it wouldnt be toooo bad with bare arms and neck

Have a Riddick Sculpt that needs a decent upper body so he can wear a black "wife beater" (quoting someone else on this board with this remark)

Re: Sideshows new bodies pics

You guys catch the 'term' SS used on it's front page: hints at a Clone Trooper body, not just armored Obi-Wan:

Our Production Blog keeps rockin' Toy Fair!
Remember to keep one eye on our Production Blog during Sideshow's Toy Fair 2008 celebration, as we will be posting updates daily, including 'Ask Sideshow' Q&A sessions with our Production Team and special behind-the-scenes product features! In fact, we just posted a closer look at our two newly announced 12-inch figure bodies, the Prometheus and the
Clone Trooper!

Looks good and I love the name. I think this should pretty much shut up the haters for good. Which is great cause it will allow us to talk about collectibles for once.

Re: Sideshows new bodies pics

With this development, do you think $90 figures will become standard? I like the fact that the new bodies are going to make the figures look even better than they do but I'll probably have to be a bit more selective about the figures I pick up and just stick with SW and main characters from other franchises.

I just saw the new Prometheus body and with it and Sideshow's new licenses they have DEFINITELY given me a reason to collect their figures now. :rock

It looks VERY promising, of course the true test will be once it is in hand. I would like to see some posed photos like the one of the GenXCore Takara body. Please do that for us Sideshow? Show this puppy off!! Oh and I like the name too.

POSITIVES
It looks sturdy and durable much like the Buck even was. The change to the TrueType style ball-joint wrists and ankles is a VAST improvement over the Buck's wrist/ankle style...which SUCKED. The joint cuts are MUCH more natural at their locations (much like where an actual human body's movements are), like having the leg shift closer to the hip than the mid-thigh. Sideshow also did a great job in addressing the other problem areas of the buck like the overall build, shoulder joint, etc. Also I know I mentioned this before in another thread but good job on Sideshow's part for using the same wrist/ankle pegs! And I am sure one thing they've learned from Hot Toys is to have neck adapters so I think we'll be seeing that. At least this way people can transition old figures to the new body style

NEGATIVES
Not much! The only joint that I think is not a natural one is that cut RIGHT above the elbow. You can do that movement in real life, but it's more natural coming from the turn of the shoulder as well as along the bicep/tricep. I'm also curious about whether the kneecaps (and elbows but we can't see the back here) will bulge and stand out like they have on some other figures as they are similar to the Buck style and size. But that covering from the leg may very well cover it up.

On the armored body it is certainly just a "slimmed-down" TrueType...I wonder what Hot Toys plans to do with this style body if they intend to use it as well. BATMAN "THE DARK KNIGHT" OUTFIT anyone???? :monkey1 :monkey5

Congratulations Sideshow! :rock

Yep, it's the same type of joint used on Takara's Cy Girls 2.0 bod. The joint accurately recreates the way the femur rotates slightly back and forward in the hip joint and loses the unnecessary joint seam.

Just think how great Jedi Luke's black suit would've looked on this body. If they do sell these bodies loose with some sort of adapter, that's one I would upgrade for sure.

Re: Sideshows new bodies pics

This awesome and IMO really ends a lot of the complaints about SS that the haters usually make. They've upped it on paint, detailing, and now the body. IMO its them and HT and call it game over.

Well, I can't find an image of the hobbit body. But it was pretty much a mini Hot Toys True Type, but the shoulders, hips and ankles were different.
