You shouldn't be, their weak security is what made this all possible. As a sysadmin, if my network were ever compromised like this, I'd be out a job, and rightfully so.

Sure, the hackers are the criminals, but Sony is the moron, and not completely blameless.
it still hasn't been proven that PSN was "hacked". at this point, it's looking just as likely that it was someone (formerly) at Sony. but that hasn't been definitively proven either. we'll probably have to wait for a congressional hearing to find out what really went down since Sony seems content to be as quiet as possible. all that's known for certain is Sony's security is about as well designed as a BP oil rig.

Whether it's a disgruntle ex-employee, a kid living his his grandma's basement, Anonymous, etc, it's still a hack. I just hope that authorities catch the bastards who're responsible for this.

if it was an employee, it's not really a "hack" any more than you signing in to post on this forum was a hack. apples and oranges, man.

Computer crime is often defined as hacking. Whether or not they had full access to the system to commit the crime it's still a crime.

it's more like the difference between theft and b&e. both are crimes but with different legal definitions and implications.

Plus they just had the SOE accounts hacked too. So it seems Sony does have major issues protecting people's information.

Well, if it's an "ex" employee as you were suggesting, then there's a huge difference. Someone who was fired, or let go of, does not (and should not) have the access to make changes to the network anymore. But, I think Sony and the FBI should have already explored this in their investigation.

man ! i am so sick and tierd of people bashing sony for these.

I own both consoles. bought ps3 lauch and i have never had an issue with it.
I bet you the hacker is some nerd kid mega xboxfan that wanted to see them fall.

I do not want to be that kid when he's door get's busted by the FBI tactical team and will go to jail forever. I would pay to see that happend.

I hope they catch the little prick.

all the consoles have there advatages. there is no better one.

PS3 has Blu ray and 3D but the comunication online sucks.
Xbox has no Blu ray wich is a major downfall, the xbox live is awsome for all the multiplayer stuff but I berly use it and I am paying for it.

I thought we were past the whole console war garbage and what's so special about Blu Ray?

I just want it to come back online already so I can change my info!

Watch them put the servers back up at like midnight tonight :gah:

It shouldn't matter when they bring it back the new update forces everyone to reset their password and that can only be done on the PS3 that activated the account or by the e-mail account that's registered to it. So everyone's personal info should be safe.

as far as i've heard, Sony hired a "third party" to investigate and i haven't heard anything about the feds being involved yet. Sony's public relations people aren't exactly the best source of reliable info on this though. we'll just have to wait and see.

True 1080p resolution. Not to mention the 50 gigabytes of storage space that allowed MGS 4 to be on a single disk, instead of 12+ disks if it were released for the 360!

Zoing! :rotfl

Oh Snap!!! That picture is back. Not to dredge that topic back, but I'd love to see MS put MGS4 on the 360 even if it was just to prove that they could.

My apologies for inadvertently trolling the thread with that post :lol. But, yeah, it would be cool if MS could pull it off. Gone are the days when we could really have a heated debate about exclusivity, and brag about which system had the best games.

True. But 75% of those disks would be used to contain MGS's ****y story.

So...thanks, but no thanks.
:lol

Pshh.. you know you want it. Every night X-Box 360 gamers have wet dreams about MGS 4 being available on Live for download. But then they wake up to their cold, and shameful reality. :rotfl
