I can't wait to see what Robbie does with the slide, PopCultKid, my brother and several others who were riding this wagon from the beginning I'm sure some were not able to secure DX. I did by pure fluke but support the idea of the slider, I just know that Robbie would do a kick *** job.

Just realized a potential hurdle. I don't think rainman is including the escort gun in either the regular sets or H&C sets. Hope Robbie is also willing to tackle that. ;)

The gun is definitely the kicker, hopefully Robbie finds a way around it, if there's a ubiquitous version of that postol out there that he can do casts of more the merrier, otherwise if no one has any ethical issues I do have the brothers prodiction one that I was going to sell with my custom but could lend to Robbie to cast first if need be.

Anything I can do to help out the community.

Did you get your hands on a set???

:hi5:

Nope. :( I'm going to hopefully settle for the H&C sets. Just going to be a nightmare with having to somehow get both sets ordered at the same time while having to deal with empty cart issues. Just really bummed me out... Been following this project for months and been watching the movie practically on a loop during that time too, getting so pumped. Then.... Nothing. :(

Here's to hoping I at least get the H&C sets Thursday. Major major props to Robbie for helping the rest of us get the definitive Bickle!

Congrats to all who supported the Taxi Driver figure and the push for the gunslide.
Here are the names that were taken of members who originally helped me show there was genuine support for this to be made, regardless of cost or inside info claims. I needed to show that there were at least 10 who wanted it. I sincerly hope most of you were able to get what you helped push for.

If I left someone out I apologize. These were the original voices who commented and names I took who were genuinly in support of this. It's all on record....rewind. I hope you guys were able to get what you originally intended on.

This has nothing to do with Taxi Driver other than the sculpt itself. A video preview of one of my favorite sculptor's class, Jordu Schell.

Thanks man .. I've secured my DX successfully :duff

My biggest concern now is the hands :/

I would definitely love to see stricter rules, but I don't think it will happen. People selling off their "limited art" in 3 weeks for the most part, probably didn't really like the character that much to begin with and either got caught up in the hype.
I definitely think Rainman should have some sort of limit on how much is sold to a given person--really, should be 1 of EITHER the DX or double full set. Exceptions could be made for the independent full sets since those are essentially two completely different figures, and folks may be getting those because they missed out on the other sets. If folks want to bash extra figures, they should be required to duke it out with everyone else for head/outfit sets IMO.

But I know Rainman hasn't had this limit in the past, because guys admitted to buying an extra for a friend or whatever. And based on previous posts, I know some here are extremely focused on value and profitability, and that seems to play into their interest in these. Unfortunately, with that mentality, I would not be remotely surprised if some of these individuals bought an extra (or two!) with the sole intention of reselling. Could also be some hoarder or two who really wants two fancy sets for themselves. In either case it would be really sad and lame if true, though, because I know there are some serious fans of the character/figures here that missed getting a single set they wanted. This isn't a Hasbro Star Wars toy with tens of thousands produced or anything. But ultimately Rainman sets the sales rules.

I think that you'd have a HUGE interest list for a slider. All those who missed out plus I'm sure a fair share of dudes who weren’t going DX anyway....
I've got Rainman's original Bill hat, and Robbie's version. . .Robbie's version is a huge improvement in terms of sculpt and overall quality. I wouldn't be shocked if he one-upped Rainman's efforts here. If nothing else, because Rainman seemed to knock this out in about a day. If Robbie does one, and spends his time on it, it could be something really special.

Congrats to all who supported the Taxi Driver figure and the push for the gunslide.
I'm not sure what your objective here is. Do you want everyone to throw you a party? You wanted the slide--for yourself--and did whatever you thought it took to get that accomplished. That's great that it worked out, but those names were just the means to your end. If you really wanted to get a small handful on board to pay a really high price for this, and if you wanted to reward all these guys, then you should have tried to organize a group commission. Then, maybe everyone who went in could have paid $300-400 extra or whatever would have had one. But that's not what you did, and so the regular sales process is what it is. It sucks that some who wanted it--even before many details were released--didn't get it. But what purpose does it serve to bring this up now?

The limiting numbers that you can order I see as a problem. I mean it should be used with discretion, like you can't order five and if Rainman see's some newcomer or shady person scoop up five it should be limited. But after five years he knows who get's what.

But in my case my brother chilipep and I have been in this since Col. Mortimer have have got almost all of the RM figures save maybe 1 or 2, always order together, one of us sometimes is not around or it's easier to just add two to the cart also it saves both rainman and us shipping because we just give the other the figure when we see eachother (we live in different countries).

In the case of driver, our VIP order was placed but neither secured a DX, yesterday I secured one DX. the other double FS went to a member here that has been on this ride for Taxi Driver since the beginning and has been a key player, and we all don't want to see him empty handed and simply struck out completely. I'm glad to have helped him out and if there were limits in place he and either chilipep or myself would have been left empty handed. Both this member and chilipep wanted the DX and struck out too so it's not always a perfect scenario even with no limits.

All is fair in love and war and we were all in the rate race, no question about that. But the difference is that all of us totally communicated to Rainman what we are doing and he was totally cool with it, in fact my brother had I have always done that since day one so Rainman knows we are simply fans that each want one and neither of us want to flip for profit. In my opinion if Rainman sees someone order two he has the right to question why, he might have even have done that with us in the beginning. I can not remember. He's on the ball not to worry.

I've actually never sold any of my rainman figures. I know many have, for loss of hype or financial reasons or whatever so they did so and that's their prerogative. I'm sure many have flipped too, there is always newcomers, most probably just wan the figure and they should have opportunity to own it like everyone else but you're not always sure the intentions of a newcomer. But there's also this tight community that have been on this ride for five years.

Rainman is really great about paying it all back to his loyal customers, that's what this release is all about.

It's definitely a slippery slope and has two sides to the equation. Bottom line I think the solution is if you are buying more than one you have to tell Rainman why and exactly who it's for and he has right of refusal.

Also I know a lot of VIPs struck out on the DX. Both times. And rainman even upped the run by 5 which was a classy move if you ask me. It shows that this is a real winner of a figure here, But Rainman simply can not make all of the sliders as he's one man. I personally would never expect him to. He does not have the mass production links like Denny does for example.

Until pure fluke. It listed sold out and then I refreshed 2 mins after and one was there. I have no idea why. I would have been in that boat too, I was there at 8 but got cart jacked like 6 times. Would I have been upset? Especially since being in this from the beginning. Absolutely no question, and I was, I'm also bummed for my brother so I'm not defending this because I got lucky, it's always an issue when one of us strikes out. Both of us did not get DX of Denny's cowboy and the sting is there for both of us. It's worse because that's a Trevor head and this is something that can be fashioned well independently.

But the truth is I know we have the resources of this community to lean on, including Robbie who is a gentleman and an immense talent. and Even if Robbie was not into making the slider I knew another would come through or I'd fashion my own or use the one I made for my other custom which I still think looks good. When there is a will there is a way, we're lucky that there is enough of us crazies that like this stuff to even get all this stuff made.

Would it be great to have official licensed taxidriver figures? Sure. But until Bobby dies that likely will not happen. And I'd rather have Bob around anyway so thank god for Rainman! Even if my wallet is lighter I still am amazed that these things are made by hand.

In regards to the slider. Like Ray said, Rainman is only one person. He also has limited ways of production. Everything must be sculpted and cast to be able to get produced. I on the other hand work in a different manner which allows me to produce items using multiple mediums. In the past I would never make an item if it was part of the special DX or exclusive. Reasoning is that I want to make sure those stay special. If things were offered as a normal release then I was willing to make them more available. I see it as ethical. But in regards to the slider, I have been talking to Rainman, and he suggested that I make them available, because of the demand. So that is the reason I am open to offering them. Glasses were not discussed but if I can find a resource for my idea then I may be able to offer them also. In either case, there are other projects that will come before these. I just wanted to explain my position.

Good to know you're discussing the plans for the slider and that RM is okay with it. I think my only concern with releasing a DX item is stepping on his and the customers toes.

Although I probably won't buy one for myself... as it's not that key to me. However I didn't really think a) I would buy a FS or b) I'd be able to get one last night. So who knows how I'll feel in a bit when the slider is offered :lol
