Am I happy I spent 900 dollars on this? No!

But it is a nice representation of one of my all-time favorite movies (My wife's included)

So I will enjoy it the best I can.

I'm sorry but I really think that rainman should have offer the two figures for 1200$ as a duo pack.

Maybe Iminime should have a go at the Pulp Boys

I knew we should have stuck with Mr. Blonde :lol
I'd love to dig up that old conversation.

I'm on my way to pick up Bateman and Jules. I find it amazing that I'm gonna be more blown away by an Iminime set than a RM set once I pop these open.

I had a meltdown because I was oozing with frustration. I went a little harder then I should have and apologized for that. Although I went a little overboard, I think some of you can understand where I was coming from now.

The fans eagerly wait for the next release, are prepared to drop the big bucks that he asks and are well within their rights to have expectations. The buy it or don't theory doesn't work for anybody. Not for the fans; not for Rainman.

This shoe situation is no buono. We knew that the EB bodies were a monkey wrench in the mix from early on. There's no reason why they made it to the final product if they were the root of several problems. Even after he bought them the easiest fix was what I suggested: send him another $25 and get the AA KOs. It wouldn't have been any skin off his back. He could've kept the EB bodies and try to put them to use in the future of just list them on eBay and probably profit off them! Just because he invested in a bad idea didn't mean that there wasn't time to change direction or employ a sensible plan B that would save the situation.

That whole upset thing is a bit ridicuous IMO. You pay a lot of money and deserve the best figure made for that price.
He should come here and listen to critics, bad or good. No reason to be uspet or sad :dunno

Seriously....

I hate to say it but it feels like he chimes in with "thank you for loving my figure" when it all sells out in the blink of an eye. This time people put the "don't like it, don't buy it" to the test. The different packages sat there instead of flying off the shelf like he's gotten so used to and now it's "I'm upset and don't want to communicate"

Regardless of what your saying your stance of Rainman not using KO bodies anymore in the Milkshake Man release is what made him go this route. Now to go back to saying use the KO it's ok. Whats he supposed to think and do?

Not picking sides but he tried his best to use a quality body from what I understand. I also totally understand why people are upset. Its a real double edged sword with this release.

I really think he should do what he wants to do from now on out. Too many voices is what messed up this project from the jump.

Mike, I said several times that it's a rare case. I said verbatim that it's not something that I want to see become a habit but it's called for in this rare situation. I also gave several viable reasons why it would be acceptable for this isolated situation.

I was ticked that he went that route for Plainview. I understand that there is a drought of narrows and it started from around when he began Plainview's release. I get why it was necessary for Plainview at the time but this is a whole set of different variables

I understand that he invested but there was a way for him to come out unscathed. You have to see the big picture, know when to pull the plug early and go with plan B. It doesn't make sense to see a bad idea thru to the end.

Wrong again, and like I've said... Long monologues and pontificating that is just consistently questioning and or taking away his artistic license among many other long- winded drivel has driven him away and will continue to do so. One man, his hands and eyes... The ability he is blessed and very little else in terms of helping will be only solution to alleviate the distress he feels. Oh, and if any want "perfection," whatever that means when it comes to art, then this is not the hobby for you. Wait 10-20 years and then jump in, hopefully then they can clone 1/6 versions of characters we like and have flying cars and all the rest of the goodies we've been yearning for.

Well this is all not boding well for the figure, so I'm kinda dreading when it arrives.

I've been trying to think this all through in anticipation. Vincent is a very impactful figure, although on the TT body his head seems a little large. But regardless am pleased with him. Reports suggest that Jules has multiple problems beginning with the EB body, which I never understood the reason why that was chosen. Unfortunately I ended up swapping out my H+C for the full due to my concern over the tailoring being specifically for EB. Then there seems to be the issue of the head sculpt. Will hold final judgement until in hand, but from the pics one problem seems to be the hair which looks too short and mashed down. I wonder if it can be separated easily, because I may try to have that resculpted after I check out the face. I may even see if there is a way to do real hair, which I felt should have been an option at least. I'm also looking at other options including the Snyder's Jules, or even commissioning a new HS altogether if the rest of the set is top notch and the body swap ends up working. Maybe enough of us can get together to do a group commission, who knows. Like some others it would be extremely frustrating to put another $200+ into a figure just to try to get it where it should have been at release. But I also know that if I'm not happy once I get it I will either go that extra mile or sell both Jules and Vincent at a loss and hope that the characters come down the pipe from another company like Iminime at some other time in the future.

On the one hand I certainly sympathize with Rainman. I feel that he was doing his best but was also kind of in this no man's land with no easy way out. Vince was done and everyone was waiting on Jules to join him. I'm sure RM got sick of the complaining and micro managing. And I'm sure he's not feeling great right now as the negative reviews are coming in. However, he's also got to look at this from the customer's standpoint. These are among the most expensive customs out there. High end customers demand and deserve high quality results. If you do not respect your customers they will go elsewhere. It is simply not fair to drop off the map and not show final product or communicate for the last month or so prior to shipping. Folks should have had the option of cancelling based on final product. To be honest I probably would have. But the reality is it probably would have been a financial disaster for him. So yes, no easy way out.

But by the same token if folks feel they are holding the short end of the stick after this it's going to leave a bitter taste and RM runs the risk of losing valuable customers (I don't think the market for $800+ figures is that big). The negative experience also won't be "made up" with the next release either. I have no interest in a Travis Bickle, I don't care if the figure looks exactly like the character down to the last pore, it's just not something on my want list. Same with Killer A, I had no interest in it.

Speaking for myself, there are really only a few characters I could even think of that I would be willing to pay up to $800 for -- Vince and Jules were two of them. There was Deckard, Roy, Rachel and Pris (well done by Velvet Morning). Neo, Trinity and Morpheus (two of which have been covered by Iminime, SUNOHC/Kato) Otherwise, it would be characters like Leeloo, KISS(Love Gun or Destroyer, and with real hair), Wyatt or Johnny Ringo. I'm sure there may be others I just haven't considered, but nothing immediately comes to mind. In other words not a huge universe of possibilities. And they would have to be pretty spectacular in design and execution even then, especially when I can buy 3-4 HT or 2 Iminimes for roughly the same price.

After this experience, I do think Rainman should think about offering some kind of a credit (maybe 15%-20%) to customers who bought Jules and/or Vincent and are less than satisfied. That way he wouldn't be out the cash and his buyers probably wouldn't feel completely burned. Doing that could go a long way to repairing some of the damage. I also think he should really redouble his efforts to come up with character selection,

However note that all of this is prior to having the piece in hand. I could end up absolutely happy with the figure, but if anything I imagine I will be even more disappointed than I'm fearing. So it might be better to post now rather than when I've got the figure staring at me and having a mix of disappointment, frustration, anger, and uncertainly with what to do with it.

Okay... off the soapbox. :lecture

Would have certainly made them more palettable. I could have done without the dork outfits in that release if that's what it took.

Honestly in pics, the figure is the same of the promo ones, so who bought it, did it knowing what was being offered. IMO

Not True! We were told that corrections would be made and things would be revised. Imagine receiving this with no changes with some cheap PVC shoes that we would have never expected in a million years from a Rainman peice. The writing on the "exclusive" fullset wallet isn't even legible! Your right about it looks like that's the proto sculpt though.

I almost feel like this was outsourced. I'm sorry to say. Likeness aside, the Quality Control of this is terrible.

I don't think it was on the final body. I don't think the hair was shown on the B&A pics but will have to check. And the order photos showed the sculpt before tweaking.

i undestand your frustation, i came late on this, and bought just Vince sculpt, when Jules was released i didnt like the outcome and didnt bought it and also sold my vince sculpt.
PF is my favorite movie

i'm glad people are starting to see the business side of this...if he gets upset...he should put himself in the other man's shoes and see how he would feel spending his hard earned cash on sub par work....i'm sure whether he wants to admit it or not...he would be somewhat pissed...

and again I echo the same thing i said about Iminime and RM not doing figures in over a year....Iminime is a fan and a business man and understands how the two correlate....what did he do?...he improved his internal workings and will prolly now be offering BETTER full figures then RM himself...at half the price....as a business man myself...i have to applaud what Denny is doing....RM on the other hand...not so much and thats because, whether he means it or not, his actions for this year have been fumbling all the way until now....not a good feeling you get specially when he even states that he is "emotional" over people not liking his work....not a good combo if you expect to be making money, which ultimately is his goal....he needs to toughen up and improve his overall outlook starting by the improvement in his communications...if he decides to leave because of criticism...then i know what type of person he is....
