Well, in fairness, that Snyder-man one has pretty basic paint apps vs. those others.

Ya there is that but just from looking at movie stills I just see so much Vincent in Rainman's compared to the others, don't get me wrong the others are good too but IMHO Rainman's is the best.

For as much debate going on over this subject, I think they are all lacking. All three miss the mark.

It seems so obvious when you put it like that :lol

I'm going off to my shed to sculpt my own. I'll nail a perfect Vince in a few hours. Don't think for a minute any of y'all will get to see it though, I'll keep it to myself.

This seems to be a fairly common knock against Snyderman's heads. Funny thing is even with a basic paintjob the likeness is way stronger than the other two. Throw some screen grabs from the movie up with those three pictures and you will see it too.

I definitely agree. Although all of them bring something great to the table, I think the Snyderman definitely has the best detail to work with. The shape of the face and details evident even after the paint job make the Snyderman my favorite. I think the Vincent by Rainman and the Jules have the same problem, not enough of the facial shape and details translated from real life to the sculpt. I'm by no means saying the Rainman sculpts are bad, it's just that when you charge a lot of money for a head sculpt that misses the mark, people will turn to other artisits for their work. The old free market system at it's best. :)

Apologies if these are anyone's heads. I just did a google search:

Who painted your sculpts, aeon, rainman or both??

I see it there. Dont know if it's a VIP only thing. Sorry, man. :( Maybe Rainman will transfer it to the regular FS link later.

Hopefully ed ,

As I want to buy it not only for jules but to be that one step closer for VIP status ..., I must be close to it now ...hmmm.

Sorry but there is no contest here. RM is more than a step above the other two and that isn't to disrespect the others. Jack is a very talented sculptor but this isn't even in the same ballpark!

You see what I did there :monkey1

We all see what you did there ;)

I'd like to see Snyderman's sculpt with a nice paint app, but as of right now there is no contest.

I like how Xenoviper brought out that angry emotion in his sculpt

As of right now Rainman's HS is the best of the three.

Both Aeon. Interestingly, the eyes are pretty distinctively different in-hand. I had a couple of Snyder-Man sculpts painted by Skiman, and they look way better than the ones posted in his thread IMO.

Much like the multiple comments about Rainman's work looking better in hand, I'ld say that Snyder-man's sculpts and painting are better appreciated when seen in person. Their pictures are the only thing about the work that lacks quality. I believe I saw the Game Over Hudson painted by Skiman. His Hudson was kind of meh after seeing Snyder-man's in person. There was a lot of dirt, grim, and sweat on the SM paint that did not show in his pictures at all. If you were happy with it, that is all that really matters. Snyder-man's paint style is more old school which a lot of people on here don't seem to appreciate, but it's a stretch to say that it takes anything away from the quality of the likeness.

read through all the posts, ray, levit, robbie, all have good points, but lets be rainman for a minute, i make a figure, jules. he sells out within hours on the full sets, the h@c sell out in a few days. i must be doing something right!! why should i listen to 3,4,5, guys about changeing this changing that, and risk getting backlash for all the supporters who have just bought me out in a few days time!! maybe the majority love the sculpt and figure the way it is.,,,, why in the world would i change a thing because 5 people want this sculpt their special way. and you know rm has a special relationship with a few on here. if they arent complaining then it really justifies him not doing a thing to the sculpt, or doing just a minor change. and also lets be honest people, and i am "NOT" saying this happens , but lets say a few of those people that rm respects a lot are emailing him and saying to leave it well enough alone? then what? and i agree with "marlidesign" there are enough rm fanboys that they will buy whatever he puts out no matter what. point being stansfield...he isnt even close to be a huge must have figure for people... and he was released before leon, and he did sell out.. and rm is way way more popular now than then. what i am saying is a lot more goes into it than just whats on the surface. rm may also say to himself, there are people that i can never please, no matter what, so i wont worry about it, not specific people, but like any artist there is always backlash no matter how great the release.

disclaimer- i make no accusations or implications at all, just trying to think a little outside the box with things. i own both figures. i am in the camp that the perfect character cannot be made into a doll. if i want perfect i will buy an 8x10 pic and be happy. an artist doing his best and getting very close to a likeness is good enough for me. again i am bringing up ponits and possible scenerios,,,not trying to start something or accuse..just saying what some people think. you have to think of every possibility if it occurs or not.

I've been dying to jump into the 'sending the wrong message" discussion since it started but I haven't had the time I needed to dedicate to the issue in depth.

The really short answer is there are two sides to this like every other story. I'm sure to some degree it can naturally make anyone get a little comfortable when anything you do will sell out; but at the same time I want to believe that he has a passion for his work and does it both for the fans and himself. I'm sure he doesn't want to put out something that he feels is inferior as much as we don't want him to... but then there are other variables that come into play.

One, it sometimes has a lot to do with the artists' connection to the subject matter (and sometimes that doesn't matter). Some guys like Beto refuse to do anything if their heart isn't completely in it. Other guys will do work based on demand. At any rate these guys burn out after a point whether they like the subject matter or not (guys like Josh & Surfer will say that they're done with a certain sculpt after painting a ton of them). Rainman will make figures based on demand... I'm just not sure how much his disconnection to the subject matter influences the final results. It may or it may not

Secondly, I do believe that Rainman puts his passion in his work but it's really hard to feel like we're getting his all on rush jobs. No matter what you are... an artist, writer, construction worker or whatever else, the more time you take to do something and the more care you put into it, the better the results will be. It feels like we're not getting his full potential on the PF guys. It feels like he's saying this is the best that I can do in the time that I can put into it

I compare critiquing/buying Rainman to:

Demanding your boss give you a raise or you'll quit. Meanwhile there are 30 people outside, standing in line, waiting for your position to open up :rotfl
