Agreed, it sucks just looking at the pictures, its like David from the Lost Boys all over again.

Money Talks!!!

I can't imagine how MUCH that commission cost. For Rainman to spend his time on a single figure when he can make 20-40 and charge $500 or so each... I cant imagine.

Now THAT'S what I expect to see from the man we know and love. That piece is INSANE! We can't judge fully without seeing the accessories but as a stand-alone figure I'd say that's hands down, no if, ands or buts his best work EVER. Ridiculous!!!! :clap :clap :clap

Yea true but somebody came to him with the idea for Harrow as a private commission so he took input from somebody on that figure. It's not like he woke up and said 'right today I'm gonna make a Richard Harrow figure because I want too'. He's made it cos somebody is paying for it same as any of his other releases. I agree with you to an extent though I do think we as a group maybe need to give him a little more room when it comes to his works. Suggestions for improvements etc are always going to be needed to get the best out of a figure and for all we know maybe the owner of Harrow has suggested a tweak or 2 maybe not perhaps RM nailed it first time round but I do think RM should be allowed to use his artistic license more.

That's exactly right and this is proof positive (if his last 12 offerings haven't been) that him "choosing" the project has no bearing on the end result. I agree that he, like most artists, just has more chemistry with certain likenesses over others; but at the same time he is in control of how much time he puts into his releases, and at what point he calls them final.

You're talking in the $4000 or better range.... legend has it :lol

:exactly: Commissioning a headsculpt alone is a lot a bread, but a full figure, clothes, accessories and all, holy crap!!!:thud: I'm not sure which figure makes me more jealous this one or David, it totally sucks when people use a very well known artist for a private commission, besides their amazing talent the entire community of fans and consumers is what really makes these artists so huge, if we didn't buy their product in such high demand they wouldn't be available at such high prices, hence everyone helps build their names and product and the fact that we all aren't allowed to own it in any capacity is a real bummer.

Have to bump all of this. MASTERFUL!

That's the thing. The more I sit and ponder with this reveal today I'm filled with mixed emotions. Is this the new way things are gonna play out? New people find out about this hobby everyday. Some with loads of disposable income.

Are we to now believe that if you have that good amount of cash you can just throw it out there and steal away characters that the rest of us have been pining and lobbying for forever?

I mean its already been said the guy who commissioned isn't even a regular here on the forum. So we can scratch out a Harrow and two other mystery characters from our lists. It kinda sucks.

And I know Your gonna say "But what about you and Teddy?" I believe those two commissions to be of a different nature. They were commissioned by two long standing customers with lots of passion for this hobby. Not getting a David by Rainman hurt a little but I dealt with it. As we all did. Besides,it wasn't lobbied for hardcore until Teddy got it done. Plain and simple. As for the X-1 bike I tried to get it done as a DX item but there would be no time so there that went.

This commission here seems like its more of a let me go behind the scenes and drop these fat stacks. Here's the finger to all my fellow collectors! NO HARROW FOR YOU! And what hurts more is Harrow has been asked for in the Rainman threads for so long. I feel for Ray especially cause I know he was pushing hard for Boardwalk figures to be touched by Rainman.

And of course to top it all off it looks to be the man's best work to date. Made with love and respect for the source material!

And before you cry sour grapes. Don't. I'm not in the market for a Harrow although I think its a great figure idea. Just not where I'm going.

I'm just more concerned about what this means for the game. In the end its Rainman's business and he can do whatever he wants. I respect that 100% Just that his fanbase is growing by the day and I feel like we've all just been smacked by this news. Crazy!

That Richard Harrow is beyond amazing. If I ever find out which one of you owns it, I'm gonna come shotgun you in the face like Munya and take it.

Fantastic post! :goodpost::exactly:You put into words exactly what a lot of people are probably feeling, me included!

You will probably call me a hypocritical b*****d for this, but I agree with all of the above. There was enough interest from what I could see for Boardwalk Empire figures in the wishlist thread. It is worrying that we could lose a desired figure at anytime. This could be a one off or it could be a sign of things to come.

I don't want to get in to a big debate about it, but I did only commission David once I realised the interest was not overwhelming. I certainly wouldn't have stole a figure that was wanted by the masses from under your noses like that.

However, I am not bitter or jealous. I am happy for the owner. He has definitely got a masterpiece on his hands there.

Let's just hope if commissions do become something of a norm, then it will be something the majority are not overly fussed about.

It's a pretty sad day in the hobby when money trumps fan support and loyalty. Its a really Tacky move to commission a figure that would have easily been greeted with anticipation and support had communication with the fanbase been healthy. Regardless of the bickering and different opinions shared here, we always look foward to Rainman's offerings and for some of us we sacrifice to continue supporting his business. I really feel like this was a sell-out move though, and the funny thing about it is that as amazing a figure as this is, Personally the tasteless move to deny collectors of another great figure kinda trumps any impact this figure may have had.

I can't even begin to wrap my head around the idea of how Jules may have suffered because of this. How it feels like this took precedent over the general fanbase offering Jules. No attempt at a resculpt of Jules, but this?

I also think that the community of collectors should have enough respect to not overstep certain boundaries. One off doesnt mean we weren't able to afford it or add it to our collections. One off just means someone acted off of an impatient impulse, racing to pull off a cuthroat move.

People asked for this character Rainman. Check the wishlist thread, it was ask for repeatdly. I mean this type of stuff really questions a persons business integrity.

Cool figure. I need to start watching BE again. I wouldn't pay $15-$20K for a single figure of any character, or whatever it went for but some folks would. If I were commissioning something like this, I'd certainly let other folks get in on the action. I'd just figure some way to distinguish mine. Think of it as having an original painting but allowing a run of giclees to be made.

Anyway, looking forward to Jules.

like i have said before....all the folk that are super loyal should really think hard about their actions when it comes to defending RM and his artistic values because in the end....he doesn't know any of you...nor does he owe you anything...so if he has a chance to make something that will gain him money....he will take it.....it will and has always been a business decision for him and all of you should remember this....if there is something that you don't like....express it instead of blindly sending money and keeping that type of behavior going...i'm sure it somehow got his attention for the PF jules...hopefully he comes through with bickle...

Agree with all of this apart from the last bit I for one am bitter and jealous :lol

Missed this post before my last response put absolutely perfectly spot on Turbo exactly how I and I'd imagine many feel atm. I was one of the many trying to push for this particular figure and for that to have been ignored is a bit of a kick to the gut it really is

Seems that PF was lacked the time and attention to the sculpts. Vincent could have had a little more detail and Jules needs the attention really bad. First that I have seen in awhile everything available and it's been over a month that the sale started. Now this private commission clearly shows that money will get you exactly what you want. The sculpt is amazing all the way to the faceplate......idk but maybe posting pics of that figure was a mistake?

That figure looks like it was very difficult to make. And are those metal glasses? Somthing is not sitting well with me at all.

If the guy who commissioned this isn't a regular here maybe he never saw the Wishlist thread? And he wasn't aware members were wanting this figure as well, I only saw a few members even suggesting this piece.

They look like they are...and I agree with everyone else...can u imagine the sale on this figure? He is a badass on the show....and that sculpt and faceplate is amazing. Jules was just tweaked in one area.....not even an attempt to redo it and take time and inputs from everyone. Idk.....not trying to bash the PF figures but after seeing this figure......jealous and upset

There were more than enough interested for it to have grounds to be done as a general release in the future. I personally was pushing for it and I belive Ray threw the idea out originally it gathered pace and could have been done. True the guy whos commissioned it may not have been aware of the thread but RM certainly should have been
