Will the twins' base have magnets or something for stability? I have my washer and dryer on the 2nd floor of my house along with my figures and it will briefly shake the floors as the spin cycles down. I would cry if the twins fell over :thud:

Anyone else have thoughts on this? I'm not too concerned about Danny since he has a low center of gravity.

Love the ordering system on this one. I really wanted the whole set and that's what I was able to get without worry. Thanks to Rainman to let everyone get in on this one. All there is to do now is wait it out

If magnets were implemented, that will be awesome! I dont see how else the carpet base can secure them and have it look astheticslly pleasing at the same time

My views:

1) The reality is that I don't see him do more than 1 project a year! At least not at this scale and complexity. Unless he ramps up shop. He has done what bickle, bill 2 and this in what 2 years including another 5 months in future for this to be done. Plus bill din need much to be done as sculpt was a low hanging fruit for him and a pig head a relatively good but easy accessory! So he may do this for every release which would be once a year!
2) flippers are also cornered with this as (while you can) there will be substantial reduction in potential aftermarket buyers - while h and c and full sets will still have margins imagine flipping (with ease) a 2600 dollar set. Can be done but not as easily as before. So good that more money to him and less to anyone who wants to flip
3) part flippers the ones who buy everything and want to let's say part out Danny or twins, or let's say someone who got over zealous and bought one and can't seem to retain the set- imagine selling a 1250 Danny or 799 twin for a 1x or 3x. (Can be done but not at all easy)

So it's a win win for him and for genuine buyers!

I would agree with it for the really popular characters as you said but yeah there's no way he could do every release as a 24 hour open order, and im sure he wouldnt want too. Getting all The Shining sets will likely take him 3-4 months unless hes already been painting them before the sale went live

I agree - win win. I know this is RM's passion but its also his bread and butter. Making more (but decrease number of figures released / year) can honestly probably net him more $ over time AND also help with the flipping situation.

Keeping with the theme of more availability for more collectors, although a 24 hr ordering period may only be once a year, it would be nice to see maybe a 1 hr or 2 hr window on some other upcoming releases. I'm really curious what the final numbers from this set turn out to be with such an open system. Should give Lee a real good feel of his consumer base.

flipping is one thing but having your money somewhat safe is another....lets just hope none of us run into a situation where we HAVE to sell because getting our money back on this one won't be an easy task once the retail hype dies...

35 total I meant. Including VIPs. Don't quote me because I'm not sure if those are all paid for.

The secondary market will explode with Danny/Trike and the Twins if less than 30 are produced!

I don't think anything is gonna explode - people who want to buy are buying. The ones who don't have money by the time they have money - rainman would have his "next big thing" on the cards! Or near enough :)

Honestly imagine even if some one wants to buy a Danny for 2k aftermarket (that would be a rare case/s) or twins for 1.5k - what if that person wants to buy Danny and then also buy rainmans next big release! That will be serious money! And even if that happens for one more cycle won't happen continuously. Already 1250 for Danny is the costs of rainmans dx releases of the past so that in itself is serious money friend!

On the pricing front a new benchmark has been set by rainman and honestly am very happy that those big $$ are going directly to Robby , rainman , aeon / artists rather than people who want to buy something as a speculative guess of future gains! And gain off it!

I think you'll still see a lot of these up for sale same as Bickle. A lot of people I feel got caught up in the hype of owning a RM piece because the casual fans could now get one with the 24 hr system. Once some get it they'll realize maybe they dont want/need an entire shelf dedicated to The Shining

True, I didn't see as much excitement in this thread as the Bill V2. I think most of it had to do with people not having extreme anxiety trying to get one and that there might be more DDL fans than Torrance. The advertising, execution, and pre order went up so fast I don't think people didn't have time to really stop and breathe. Either way there are a lot of happy fans that will have to opportunity to own one of Rainman's pieces.

Exactly. Bickle is an amazing piece but he rots in the sales thread for retail because of the amount made. There's gonna be 3 times as many jacks. Jacks a sick figure but a month after shipped you're gonna see 15-25 jacks for sale all at the same time. Gonna get old quick.

That's exactly my point. I meant "won't explode" I meant cost. In fact I feel when the hype dies and other stuff come along rainman or anyone else people tend to start offloading stuff especially if they bought it half heartedly. And the cost is a decent amount to retain a half hearted initiative.

Imagine that people have offloaded work that they have been crazy so far about - and always moved on to newer stuff. I usually like to hold on as hard as I can to what i have "thought" and bought cause I think through always of my overall collection needs. But you are right people go overboard seeing beautiful pictures and lightings and nothing wrong with that but yes you are right many will stretch and offload when they can't afford / justify / or just lose interest. (Not all but some for sure)

I tend to agree mate.

+++ I also think many cancellations will happen in next 7 days when reality hits on pulling the funds!
