Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

The body can be had fairly cheaply though, and the assembly is pretty basic in my experience. If you think Rainman (or very possibly someone else he contracts) putting those bodies together is worth something, then that's one thing. But it only took me about 15-20 minutes with Bill. Only seems like it should take longer if you want to let the glue set a bit longer.

I do wonder about Doc, though. Typically Rainman includes the chest piece, that requires disassembling a TT body and inserting a hook inside the bottom of the head. The Doc parted set comes with no chest, and apparently has a neck, so presumably it is made to be situated on an existing TrueType body without mods.

Does anyone know if all those sculpts will be drilled to fit on True Type neck adapters?

I know the four G,B&U Heads I got had necks and were drilled to fit on the existing HT body as well as a DID or Dragon body.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

I think if you have the cash it is well worth it. You are essentially getting the artists fully recognized vision of the piece.

In terms of packaging I only have one Rainman full set thanks to my buddy Teddy Daniels, but I also have the Marty Clothing set, and while the packaging is pretty basic I still think it has a very professional/finished look to it. You are not going to get a figure that has been bubble wrapped and put in a shipping box. While not a big deal for me this small touch is appreciated.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

So, if someone won't be able to go ahead with the purchase like Turd, how does one go about it? As in, its already been purchased by someone else, right?

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

IMO the paint job, special item, body and the full assembly warrants the $300 extra.

I think the paint job alone is worth it

I can't really comment on Rainmans paint apps as I have never seen any inhand but from the pics I've seen I can imagine why someone would pay extra for his paintwork. The Body and full assembly on the other hand certainly do not justify paying extra for, especially since this particular figure does not have one of his custom chests ( that is where the work would be for someone going head and clothing route)
So really in my eyes if your paying for a full set your really buying it for Rainmans paint and the status of it being a full figure, assembly is a stupid thing to use to justify it when it's as simple as popping a head on and dressing him.

You'd be surprise what is simple to one person isn't so simple to another. Do you still have to add foot pegs to Rainman's boots. I know with the The man with no Name you had to remove the socket from the HT TT foot and glue it into the boot.

My guess is that this is the real sentiment behind many folks wanting a full set, and I think that's completely understandable, though from my POV, saving $300 by getting a figure that is only slightly different when all is said and done is a stronger incentive most of the time :lol

I've got a full set Dude, and a parted set Dude, and to be frank, the paint work ain't all that different between them IMO. But, we did see a big difference on Bill's paintwork (with DF Studios, the eyes look very similar unless you look really carefully, and both lack the detail of what Rainman added to his painted sculpts from what I can see), so it may be hit-or-miss.

Yes. Though in that case, I would imagine it is simple to anyone who has done it, even if it seems complicated up front. I'm no customizer by any means, and have only rudimentary skills in that department (I just worked up the courage to modify my HT Thor helmet for the first time last night). But the Rainman foot mod was extremely simple for me--I did it twice so far.

And now he's has a different painter for Doc. So who know how big a difference there will be.

Spending the extra $300 to get the full set will pretty much guarantee your Doc will maintain or increase in value over time. As good as the Iminime team's paint job is it doesn't have the cachet of Rainman's full set. A good example is that the painted HS by iminime team is still available. If in the future you find yourself needing to sell Doc for whatever reason you will be able to get your money back and maybe more.

:exactly: I don't have much customizing skills myself but I recently modified an Alice body to work with some custom boots, I had to remove the sockets from the legs of another figure and glue those to the Alice body( her legs had to be cut down slightly), it was all just simple cutting and gluing!:dunno anyone who has ever glued something broken back together should be well capable of doing the same.

Yes. If you want to buy these in part or in whole as an investment, then the full set is the way to go. That's never really been a factor for me with Rainman's stuff, though (otherwise I would have bought a full set Alex, for sure), so I might have an easier time justifying the parted sets than some others would.

Same here.

If Rainman goes with iminime from now on, it might be a game changer for a lot of people. DF studios has always offered a slightly less impressive copy of Rainman's own paintjob, I've never seen it match or exceed. But the iminime team has their own distinct style that some may end up liking even more than Rainman's, in some instances. And for the price...

iminime team charge about the same price just for a paint job as the Painted Doc Holiday Rainman Sculpt is sell for. So you're getting a deal there.

..and on top of that it also has sweat beads!:yess: (unless that's photoshopped again. :/)
