Since we are having this discussion, 34 years after the fact, that shows the relevance of a movie like The Shining and the Jack Torrance character. Classic Jack, along with Cuckoos Nest, needs the RM treatment.

Yes maybe in the sculpt refinement area RMsTorrance will look better but that's it.. and with a better paint job Snydermans sculpt would look even better. RMs likeness will most likely come out with his signature doe eyes and soft baby faced expression that would totally throw off Jack Torrance.

Very well said. That head sculpt is sharp as sharp can get and is just so in character! ... With right accessories, that would be hard to top...

My thoughts exactly. Jack Nicholson, Stanley Kubrick, and Stephen King... say no more. Django is a good flick, but I think it's time to let that Leo train leave town until (if ever) he makes Amsterdam. Candie is a great protagonist, but from a movie not even a few years old. I never understood the hate for Amsterdam, Bill is RM's crowning figure so it makes perfect sense. Much better choices are out there and fit RM's m.o. more accordingly if he's not up next.

I agree with your post for the most part, but I don't know if there is necessarily hate for Amsterdam, so much as a certain level of indifference and some slight disappointment. Bill is the memorable character from that film. Leo, as Leo often has been, was serviceable. He did nothing wrong. He was the "marquee" actor involved, with the looks and charisma to get some folks in theater seats. But he's just kind of doing a typical Leo type character. I don't think people were walking away from Gangs of New York in the theaters thinking, "man, that DiCaprio really put on a performance there!" Day-Lewis stole the show. Amsterdam does make perfect sense as a companion piece, and I'm sure it would sell just like every Rainman figure does eventually. But it makes sense why he doesn't generate the excitement that, say, Torrance would as a Rainman figure. One is one of the greatest screen performances of the last 50 years, the other is just some Leo role, albeit one that makes sense in display with another Rainman figure.

Elsewhere Wake was arguing with me that Uma in Kill Bill was a better performance (and was in a better film) than Deniro in Taxi Driver. To each their own, but after that I am hardly surprised if he says something along the lines of the Wolf of Wall Street being a better idea than Jack Torrance or whatever. :D

Snyders sculpts look very, very good. That doesn't mean Rainman couldn't absolutely nail the sculpts himself. Although since these are available from Snyderman, It worries me that Dandy Bill is the second choice. This makes no sense to me, as the mod is easily possible and we already have Bill represented! Let's get a new character!

The Hotel on Acid

all due respect to snyderman, rainmain is just in another league in terms of sculpt refinement, quality, and paint. this should in no way discourage RM from going after Torrance. The likeness on snycermans sculpt is great, but its lacking in every other department IMO

Hit it right on the head Chili! This in no way should discourage Rainman from Torrance.

How can you say a sculpt looks great, yet lacking in every other department? :slap

Can you be more specific?

Mostly I'd say they became available at a questionable time - since now people will definitely be considering them and Torrance had a healthy lead in popularity for Rainmans next figure.
It's interesting because if Rainman went through with Torrance, he would nail it and have no problem moving the sets.
So it shouldn't affect his decision making being that these are available.

I'm still in for Duke or Torrance.

Exactly! ...he may be trying to say that paint work could be bettered, but then again for a character like jack no matter who does it, it has to be that whole "like the sculpt is live: expression / feeling" and what little i have seen even RMs could go either ways. So from a sculpt likeness perspective i think recognition is due when its fair and i think those sculpts (snyderman) came out fairly live and near perfect. I have rarely seen expressive sculpts that are spot on and i think he did a great job and justice to both the sculpts.

Other: Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp

Comes with scarf and duster as well as reg. classic black attire.
Perfect companion for Doc.

I doubt RM will ever go back and finish the Tombstone figures..he said after Doc,he was going to do Johnny Ringo but, that obviously didn't happen either.

I still wish RM would follow through with Johnny Ringo and then in the near future add the Wyatt Earp.

I love all the choices but call me crazy but I really want a good Howard Stern figure I may be the only one but he is easily the figure I want to own and not some crappy close enough figure but I want someone like rainman to do it I may be the only one but that's my grail figure been listening for 20 years and I voted for Duke probably wouldn't buy any of the others maybe jack

Not everyone's cup of tea...but one of my favorite movies growing up as a kid. Can't even imagine what a Rainman/Yunsil combo will do with this character :thud:
