I believe Maleficent got very lukewarm reviews here but I took my 7 year old daughter to see it in the theater this summer and we loved it. I'm ordering the Mexican blu-ray since Disney stupidly isn't offering 3D in the US.

that makes no sense, why would disney pull the 3d version in the US?

Disney has been doing that a lot lately, not sure what their strategy is, outside of irritating consumers.

Perhaps they believe they can make more money by rereleasing the 3D version in theaters or as a stand alone disc later?

Right now Disney is treating 3D as a "theatrical perk" like IMAX in the US for their straight studio releases (starting with Frozen.) Marvel and Pixar still get 3D on US blu-rays (thank God) but nothing else. Frozen, Maleficent, Planes: Fire and Rescue, Big Hero 6, and so on only get 3D at home outside the country.

Speculation is that since they already overprice their regular blu's that they don't want to bother upcharging 3D even further for a possible limited return. Who knows. Its stupid.

Some of Maleficent's panoramic country/kingdom shots were absolutely stunning in 3D in the theater so there's no way I'd settle for the domestic 2D blu.

Another reason to buy Maleficent on Blu-ray, its Tier 0 Picture Quality (AVS reference). Every scene is razor sharp and picture perfect.

Another? Hell no. If 2 proved anything it's that the magic of Hit-Girl is gone. She's just another generic female hero now. The shock factor of it being a little girl goes a long way in the first one. Also two could not have neutered itself any harder compared to the source. It had no balls and was way too pc.

Agreed on HG, they just need to recast.. the dude playing Kick-ass is a good fit IMO. I enjoyed Carrey in the last one though.

KA was a terrible comic book. Sequel got everything that was bad about the comic and did it even worse.
The only good things about the first movie were Vaughn's directing, the soundtrack, Cage-Batman and little Moretz.

He was having a midlife crisis and it was right after a school shooting. What was so crazy violent in KA2? What scene wasn't something we could see at 7am on a Walking Dead rerun?

I have no idea. I haven't watched either Kick Ass movie. I just remember him making news with his complaining and was surprised to read someone say that the movie had neutered violence.

Come on dude, not even JAWS is a 10 (almost though).

I just caught Requiem For A Dream for the first time since 2000 - & man, I forgot just how intense this film was. Strong performances, great cast / story, the subject matter is pretty timeless, & great tone & direction. I'm also a big fan of Jennifer Connelly.
