Get Shorty. 8/10. Clever movie. Plot is intricate enough to keep my interest. And Chili Palmer is one of the greatest character names ever conjured. I like Elmore Leonard's stuff. I need to read a few of his books. I've read part of Pronto (his first Raylan Givens book), but nothing else. The mobster getting a massage at the beginning of Get Shorty (Jimmy Cap) is the same mobster that sent the hitman (Tommy Bucks) that got gunned down by Raylan in the first episode of Justified. Leonard's stories apparently intersect a lot.

Killing Them Softly. 6/10. Eh. Pitt was pretty good. Plot wasn't that interesting, though. Almost too straightforward. Could've used a twist or two. Gandolfini was interesting ... badass hitman turned useless drunk.

The hell is this...

Planet of the Apes? :wave You know the 1968-1973 films. I consider them apart from the reboot franchise and disclude the Tim Burton Film. The reason I put Classic.

Edit: I see what I did wrong...

The Conjuring - 3/5

It's a movie that's based on the accounts of self-proclaimed demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren; more specifically, about their experiences with the Amityville house. The movie had a fairly decent plot, and the acting was alright, too. The family who moved into the Amityville house were terrorized by demonic forces, that originated from Satanic rituals involving human sacrifices, from the previous owners. The Warrens were then invited to help document and cast out the evil spirits.

I love good haunting movies, but I felt that things got waaayyy too dramatic towards the end. It's like the director was trying to up the ante on The Exorcist, and it ended up looking honky and forced. But, it's still a decent horror film if there's nothing else showing on TV. Just don't watch it late at night.

While Tom Cruise is entertaining to watch and has a lot of Charisma, I dont think I'd call him a good actor. Every movie I've seen him in, I come away feeling I just saw Cruise being Cruise, rather than acting tfit the role, the role was merely adjusted to fit his personality.

A really great actor disappears into the character, and sometimes you forget that actor is playing him. I've never felt that way watching Cruise.
You could say that about a bunch of iconic actors.

I know what you mean, but he's adjusted to different roles too. Born On the 4th Of July was one of his best film roles, & while he did wear the good old American boy hat for a portion of it, his post war vet performance was excellent. No slick boy Tom going on there at all..

He has the seasoned ability deliver a believable performance, & he does that well in Oblivion.

Can't say I've ever been so lost in a performance that I just forget who the actor is. :lol

Your avatar is my exact response to this. I agree, I can never get lost in a performance, but I think when I can't see the actor, whether hidden in make up or a mask, that is when I get lost in it. I ****ing loved Weaving as V, and that I could say I was lost in the performance. Then I see LOTR, and I'm all, "yo, what's up, Agent Smith!"

Dracula Untold - 7.5/10

Pretty decent story line, the whole non-Turk actors didn't bother me as much, but definitely could've gone better. The action, now; wow! ****! That was insane. Definitely does an insane job about it compared to any Dracula. Only one I can say may top it or be similar would be Dracula in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. I liked it. Can't wait to see Mummy.

I remember people laughing during the opening of FOTR when he makes his big speech about the "threat of Mordor." He sounded so Agent Smith-like that everyone spontaneously chuckled.

I never got to see an LOTR in theatre (My mother assumed it was demons and other stuff, so I had to pass. Once I was 16 with a job, I said **** it and got everything I couldn't :lol)

But when I saw FOTR, I pissed my pants laughing for that exact reason. :lol
Manhunter - 7/10 Liked Red Dragon better.

Never saw Manhunter, but I've been going on a Hannibal spree. I forgot how great SotL is. :horror

I prefer Manhunter to Red Dragon. Michael Mann>Brett Ratner.
