It never gets old, ever. It's amazing how even without the Predator, the film holds it's own with Dutch and his crew. Such brilliant story telling and build up to the climax.

Star Trek: Into Darkness -- 5 / 10.
I didn't mind the first one, & I bought it. It was a novel undertaking, & fleetingly entertaining.
The sequel? It just reaffirms to me how pointless the whole JarJar Abrams offering was / is. I felt nothing for any of those characters, & while I'm no hard core 'Trekkie' by any means, I still have a deep fondness for the TOS, TNG, & the first three Shat/Nim films, & I just can't help but think.. why bother with all of this fluff. Are the long time fans clammering for this? Is there enough ground swell for a new generation to latch onto a reboot series?
I'd say a solid NO to all of the above.

Modern Hollywood in a nutshell - they're afraid to launch something fresh and interesting.
Also, why would they bother if people gonna eat pretty much anything these days.

The screenplay was execrable.

They just lazily rehashed Wrath of Khan.
Weak screenwriting seems to be the biggest killer of films in Hollywood at the moment, and Kurtzman/Orci are two of the worst offenders. No idea how they keep getting work. Their script for Into Darkness was filled with plotholes you could drive a truck through, terrible recycling of dialogue from an older, better film and a collection of hateful two-dimensional arseholes in the place of actual characters.
Which is a real shame, because visually and aurally, at least, Into Darkness is absolutely stunning.

yep.Yeah, it's a great looking / sounding film, but that's it.
Nether movie needed to be made for starters, but reboots in general are like chronic acne now. Just when you think some much needed panning calms the hype for anymore of them.. another one pops up.
Have they confirmed a 3rd one yet?

The gallows pretty predictble until the end thought would be worse good ending but is very easy 2 see whats next. give a 3.

Poltergeist ('15 remake). 6/10.
Not a big fan of remakes, especially the ones that are classics and should not be "re-made" in the first place.

What's the story with Z for Zachariah? Did Chris Pine's character really leave or did Chiwetel Ejiofor's character kill him? Reading a synopsis of the book perhaps suggests the latter. Seems in the book his character was more overtly bad whereas in the movie, one scene excepted, he seemed entirely benevolent and civilised.

Kurtzman and Orci out, Pegg in as writer. I guess this actually stands a chance of being good, then.
You know, assuming they handed it off to a good writing team and had some competent directors lined up, I wouldn't mind seeing a glossy, big-budget movie reboot of The Next Generation...
I lost respect for Pegg when he said that people criticising the new Star Trek films should ''**** off'' or something to that effect. As if his own criticisms of the Star Wars prequels weren't well known. One rule for Star Wars fans and a different one for Trek fans I guess.
And if he genuinely thinks the Abrams Trek movies are above criticism then I feel no particular optimism that him being a writer on Star Trek 3 will mean any better a film.
