The Huntsman: Winter's War - 8.5/10

I really did enjoy this movie. The first act dragged a bit and I felt explaining the backstory of the Huntsman

and making his wife a warrior who really didn't die

kind of took away from the mystique and badassness of the character we were introduced to in the first one. But the latter acts of the film were solid and fun. I paid $2.80 out of pocket to see this with my wife thanks to some gift cards I had laying around. I can't really afford to go to the movies very much so probably will have to wait until Bluray to see it again but very much look forward to doing so.

Fargo - 9.5/10

Last night was my first time watching this movie. A perfect example of how a complex story with different subplots can be told in around an hour and a half. I cared about the characters, there was a great sense of suspense, and lots of laughs as well. Great movie!

Was it the Redux version? I like AN a lot. It's the most nihilistic of all the Nam films I've seen.

Although, I prefer Platoon since to me it's the Goodfellas of war films.

I experienced the redux cut/version few years ago and now it's the only way I can watch the film completely through.

Platoon VS Apocalypse Now is a popular comparison and argument... I personally prefer AN but I still love platoon.

It's similar to the Godfather VS Goodfellas debate... Forgot where I read this but I like the comparison "the Godfather is Beethoven while goodfellas is Rock N Roll"

Yeah I see that comparison. One is way more serious toned while the other is more accessible and fun.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 6/10

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see what the big deal was with this movie. It had some great action sequences, and possibly some kind of underlying social commentary that I have no interest of delving into. I can definitely watch it again for the 'splosions. Plus, Charlize Theron is still pretty freakin' hot, even if she's missing an arm.

Not a huge fan either. I guess it's the old school in me, I miss Mel.

Mutiny on The Bounty (1935) - 9.6/10

One of the best films of the 1930s, and one of the best sea-films (If that's a thing). I've heard it's not super historically accurate but I'll give that pass because Clark Gable is pretty damn cool.

The Roaring Twenties (1939) - 9.8/10

Great great vintage gangster movie. Gave This a view for 2 reasons. One being Martin Scorsese recommended it in an interview, and the other being one of Humphrey Bogart's best early roles before his huge fame came along with Maltese Falcon and Casablanca. Cagney was also great as a WW1 vet who takes up bootlegging in the probation era only to lose his fortune when the Great Depression hit.
