Same. Loved the first. I can't say the same about Anabelle. That one was a dud.
Definitely a step down from The Conjuring

Yup. Really hoping those rumors of making a true franchise out of it are true. As long as it keeps the same quality... I would be up for a movie every two or three years. Just a lot of directions the universe could go as far as telling the story. The found footage in the original Cloverfield was excellent and one of the first movies I watched using that style of film making. Of course then the mystery psychological sci-fi action thriller that was Lane Almost a melting pot of categories perfectly combined into one great film.
Only question is, would a third Cloverifeld keep with Michelle's story of fighting in Houston... or branch off.

Word is, the 3rd one will also be completely different, and it will be an "anthology" series. Third one reportedly is "God Particle".
Total Recall (1990) - 7.8/10
Great early 90s (still feels like the 80s) scifi action flick. And who doesn't love the 1-liners.
"Cmon, don't ******** me."
Gran Torino - 8.9/10
Consider yourself lucky.
I tortured myself due to pure curiosity.
The Thing (1982) - 10/10
The 80's was a good decade for near-perfect movies - The Thing, Robocop, Terminator, and The Fly are a few that come to mind.
Yeah no kidding. I love those all very dearly, I hold The Fly above all of them. Although I can't watch it as much as the other three since it's too depressing.
Watched it again recently for the first time in ages, I'd actually forgotten just how thoroughly depressing a film it is. Shakespearean tragedy melded to gooey 80's body horror.
Absolutetly. I know it turned a lot of people off with all that body horror, but there's a careful constructed love story within it that I think was compelling enough. Not something I've seen done EVER in the genre.
Cronenberg's commentary on it said he hasn't seen it in years and it actually disturbed him to watch since the whole mutation into the space bug thing was actually symbolic of the aging process.
Also helps that Howard Shore's tracks are sheer magnificent.
I'm pretty bummed that FOX didn't green light his proposed sequel. It was going to take place in the same universe, but have nothing to do with the former characters, but deal with teleportation again.
