Yup. Really hoping those rumors of making a true franchise out of it are true. As long as it keeps the same quality... I would be up for a movie every two or three years. Just a lot of directions the universe could go as far as telling the story. The found footage in the original Cloverfield was excellent and one of the first movies I watched using that style of film making. Of course then the mystery psychological sci-fi action thriller that was Lane :lol Almost a melting pot of categories perfectly combined into one great film.

Only question is, would a third Cloverifeld keep with Michelle's story of fighting in Houston... or branch off.

Word is, the 3rd one will also be completely different, and it will be an "anthology" series. Third one reportedly is "God Particle".

Finding Dory - 8/10

Started off a little slow (for me) but picked up and was quite powerful. The hijinx were a bit over the top, but the movie was well made and lots of fun.

Like Toy Story 1, 2 and 3, it has much of the same story beats as its predecessor, and like TS, it never feels old.

Also 3D was quite good, it was never used in a gimmicky way, but worked especially well in the aquatic environments.

Audience applauded at the end, which doesn't happen often, even though I'll never completely understand the concept.

Stay til after the credits, a nice little nod to the first movie.

The short that preceded Dory was quite startling. Piper, as it's called was so photorealistic, that a few people in the theater actually thought it was live action at first, it was stunning to see.

The Conjuring 2 - 9/10.

Damn fine scary movie, in my opinion. No spoilers, as I'm not sure this thing was ever shown in the trailers, but one character in particular from this movie would make an awesome 1/6 figure.

Total Recall (1990) - 7.8/10

Great early 90s (still feels like the 80s) scifi action flick. And who doesn't love the 1-liners.

"Cmon, don't ******** me."

Gran Torino - 8.9/10

Finding Dory just as fun funny as 1st almost love the new characters give a 7 n half.

The nice guys give A 5 funny comedy.

Captain America: Civil War - 7.5/10

Loses 0.5 of a point for pretty much everything following the UN bombing being avoidable if Cap had just signed the damn paperwork. Genuinely felt bad for Stark throughout the entire movie.

Yeah no kidding. I love those all very dearly, I hold The Fly above all of them. Although I can't watch it as much as the other three since it's too depressing.

Watched it again recently for the first time in ages, I'd actually forgotten just how thoroughly depressing a film it is. Shakespearean tragedy melded to gooey 80's body horror.

Absolutetly. I know it turned a lot of people off with all that body horror, but there's a careful constructed love story within it that I think was compelling enough. Not something I've seen done EVER in the genre.

Cronenberg's commentary on it said he hasn't seen it in years and it actually disturbed him to watch since the whole mutation into the space bug thing was actually symbolic of the aging process.

Also helps that Howard Shore's tracks are sheer magnificent.

I'm pretty bummed that FOX didn't green light his proposed sequel. It was going to take place in the same universe, but have nothing to do with the former characters, but deal with teleportation again.

Got to agree, it definitely transcends genres. It's a pretty disturbing film to watch thanks to the special effects, but what really gets under my skin watching it now is the relationship dynamic and the human performances. I wish Hollywood would go back to making more of these thoughtful, lower-budget genre films aimed at adults.

Most of Cronenberg's early work is pure gold. Scanners and Videodrome are two films I can watch endlessly and never really get bored of.

I also had no idea he almost made a proper sequel to this. I guess it's time to read up on that and be sad...
