Oh Jye no!

I don't think I viscerally hated it, I was prepared to be entertained, this movie had me on its side from the beginning cause I'm a sucker for sci-fi, but sci-fi/horror? Bring it!

But oh boy oh boy, minute by minute, cringe by cringe I gave one step away from it, of all the stuff this movie apes from, it doesn't succeed in anything.

I feel bad for Sam Neill, I could tell he was kinda into it, or maybe he's just that much of a professional.

Please please please don't tell me you like this, not after you hated Interstellar  :lol

I feel the same way about it like with Fifth Element. A good bad movie. I like the idea of it more than the final product so I'm definitely not defending it :lol

Anderson is definitely a **** lord that has no business in Hollywood.

Oh c'mon, The fifth element is a solid movie, because it's more fantasy and satire/comedy than it is what it pretends to be, plus everything about it is better, script, cgi, score, performances, even the token black guy is more original and less annoying than in EH, it's not a bad movie, certainly not in the "so bad it's good" category.

But yeah, not a single good mark in my book for Anderson.

I wonder though, the people who like Event Horizon (cause apparently it does have a cult following)... Why do you hate sci-fi? Why do you hate horror?

This movie actually made me want to watch 2001 again, and I've already watched it this year :lol

I liked Mortal Kombat.

^This^.. after the tirade about Event Horizon?

Come on muchacho. :lol
Oh I haven't seen ID4-2 :lol I'm just excited to see it and so far, there's 2 people who liked the 1st one (as I did) and didn't like ID4-2, so that is concerning.

a-dev, whom I have similar taste with in terms of sci-fi, since he loves T2 better than T1, like I do, so it's probably a bad sign if he doesn't like ID4-2.

And Jye, whom likes almost everything, so that's even more concerning.

And please don't even start to try to defend Event Horizon, even ID4 is an example on how to do sci-fi better than Event Horizon. And I can bet you RIGHT NOW, even if ID4-2 sucks, it will still be WAY better than that rancid cringe-fest that is EH.

Whoever tries to defend EH to me I will

I'm not exactly defending it.. I just don't mind it in parts - as heavily derivative, lazy & unimaginative as it is.

Fwiw, I wouldn't mind ID4 that much either if that uber box head Smith wasn't in it. At least it has Jeff Goldblum & some nice effects sequences.

London Has Fallen.... eh, not as good as the first one, decent action movie with some bad effects. Still enjoyable enough though. Looks like they will continue to make these as the ending seemed to set up a third film.

I love T2 as much as T1 would be more accurate. My reputation for preferring T2 comes from my defending it all the time from T1 purists :lol

....guess that makes me an Independence Day (1996) purist.....

About Time: 7.5/10
Very sweet movie with Domhal Gleeson about a guy that can time travel and how he uses it to meet the love of his life. The movie plays it fast and loose with the time travel rules, so it’s best not to dwell on that because the time travel is not the point of the movie. Lovely message about living your life in the present, without getting too melodramatic.

A Walk Among the Tombstones: 5/10

With Liam Neeson about a grizzled old ex-cop PI. It was fine.

Joy: 5/10
Some very odd things about the movie. It felt very half-baked. The dialogue was either incredibly basic like from a children’s book, or overly flowery and complicated. It seemed like they were kinda going for some kind of fairy tale type of feel, with a fairy god mother of sorts narrating, but then it would disappear for a while. Then the end felt a bit rushed when they were briefly and vaguely going over how her life ends up like.

I'm not sure I understood what happened in Event Horizon. That movie blows. I tried watching it a second time, years ago and... :yuck
