I can see how it was on purpose, I viewed it as a way to represent the decadence in Bangkok, just trash and vice showered with pretty neon lights at night, but it was excessive in a way that it felt trite, like someone watched Drive and wanted to pay homage :lol

Music was cool though.

The director said that the cop and the Driver were the same character, but they are both originally a character named One Eye from Valhalla Rising. Same entity in different bodies and times.

Oh cool, I was onto something after all, no wonder why the cop felt like the hero of the story. So it's a 6/10 then.

I was gonna add how the Driver and Julian were pretty opposite with their only similarity being that were were autistic :lol

I've been meaning to watch that for YEARS.. still haven't. Looks like a great movie.

Give it a watch when you can. I doubt you'd rate it a 9/10, it's one of those things I'm just not going to be objective about as I have a lot of nostalgia attached to this film. Same year as T2. :lol

I'm not normally a fan of Irish stuff with Irish actors (find it weirdly distracting) but this film is an exception.

The Magnificent 7 (2016)
6/10

As soulless and empty as you'd expect from an Antoine Fuqua movie.
I really think he's the perfectly wrong director for this type of larger-than-life, epic movie (King Arthur comes to mind). He lacks the grandeur and vision to tell these tales, so you end up with some nice action sequences, serviceable acting from some very good actors, a straight forward story and not much else.
Which is fine, even great, for some modern-day action flick, but just not enough if you're going to tackle classic movies or epic stories.

X-Men: Apocalypse

I like this one a lot. Just watched it on DVD last night.
The scene with Quicksilver is light years ahead of the scene he did
in Days Of Future Past... and that scene, the one in the kitchen was great.
The story, dialogue, and acting were very good.

You write 0/5 differently than other people....

in seriousness though, I haven't seen it

If you go into it taking it for it's own movie, you might enjoy it. If you go into it trying to compare to the original, you might be disappointed. I found it funnier than the original but not as good movie wise, but really enjoyed it.

That's not as bad as I was expecting. I may give it a shot.

Well, it neither made me love it or made me hate it. :lol

It's okay at best, and probably worth a watch and this is coming from a hardcore GB fan that puked at the trailers. The best thing about it is the acting by all the women and Chris Hemsworth, and I'd say 70% of the jokes worked for me. It certainly could have used a better script but at the end of the day, it's a harmless film that won't "ruin" my love with the 84 film and certainly not worth the war people on various camps have been waging. It certainly didn't try to one up or wipe off the original like say, Terminator Genisys. :lol
