Evil Dead II ain't holding up why? Effects?

The Thing rating is what it should be. By a huge margin was it Carpenter's best work. I tend to like watching it during the Winter time for obvious reasons.

I think it's an ok score.

One of the few good found footage movies, I think it's pretty good and spoopy, but too low effort to rate it higher than that imo.

Found footage really is an art, and everything since that film has been lousy.

Paranormal Activity was just an Ikea commercial with moving chandeliers.

The Blair Witch sequel that came out a year or so ago was garbage, which saddened me since I thought it could of been a classic but it had all the subtlety of a freight train crashing into an airliner.

Hey now, Cloverfield is awesome, also, Chronicle.

Also, VHS is nice, it's like creepy pastas in movie form.

I think PA1 was ok, but it was too low effort as well, I'd give it a 5.

I never saw the remake, looked bland.

Also, if you haven't watch Borderlands and Noroi, top notch found footage.

:lol My scores were mostly based on my enjoyment of the films and not so much my critical reception of them.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that, when I watched it for the first time since release a few years back, it scared me ****less. It does an excellent job of simulating isolation and dread; more than any other movie in the found footage genre that I've seen, in my opinion.

I enjoyed Paranormal Activity and the series as a whole is a guilty pleasure of mine (I've seen them all). Noroi: The Curse, REC 1 & 2 and Cloverfield were all great found footage movies as well. Chronicle was a lot of fun, too. It isn't for everyone but I have a soft spot for genre.
