Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.
Foreign version has a slight edge for me, even if it wasn't as scary as the American version.
I like the casting of the girl better in the American version, but I felt the boy in the Swedish version had his character's "look" better than (if that make's any sense).
Quickly off the top of my head, other comparisons (in spoilers for those who have not yet seen the film(s):
Let Me In: 7.5/10
Same rating although I can't decide which one I like better. I was very impressed by this (American) version, that they had the guts to stick to the somber mood of what I guess is the book, instead of "Americanizing" it and making it over the top and "exciting" in the traditional, expected way. It had a great creepy slow pace to it which I really appreciated. And they kept key character moments like seeing the older brother of the bully be a bully to his younger brother (which made you understand why he was such a ____). It didn't add sympathy to the bully, but it made you understand him better. It made me personally dislike him more because he's such an idiot and a coward to transfer his anger on to someone weaker.
One thing I did like a little better about the American version:
I like how the boys were more brutal to Owen in the end, which made it more satisfying when they got their comeuppance.
I'd say both versions are pretty even.
I just watched the foreign version of Let the Right One In. I thought it was a good movie but it was hardly scary at all. i have the new American version waiting to stream on Netflix but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
The foreign one i would say was 7.5/10 as well.
While I liked the original Swedish version, I think the US remake was done so well I think I like it better...even if it is almost shot for shot the same.

I felt the scenes done better in the foreign version were:
1) The scene where vampire girl (Can't remember her name from Let The Right One In, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't Abby) scaled the hospital walls to get to Hakan / her "father". To me, it look so much more creepier than in Let Me In.
2) The woman's slow transformation to vampirism, especially the scene in Let The Right One In where all the cats are hissing at her. And again, the spontaneous combustion scene looked better to me in Let The Right One In.
3) The final pool scene. When I heard that a U.S. version was being made, I was wondering how the film would handle the graphic depiction of the deaths of minors. If I remember correctly, we saw a severed head and hand in Let the Right One In. We saw a head in Let Me In but it wasn't a fully severed head as in the Swedish version.
