Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt1: 2/10

Just an awful, awful movie... I knew it would be and have resigned myself to seeing the entire series just so I know what its about. But damn, this was just painfully boring and stupid. Its funny that the last book was split into two; seems completely unecessary since everything in the movie was painfully slow :huh :lol

It tries so hard to replace Harry Potter, but it just doesn't.
:lol

Hanna - 8/10

Probably the best use of sound and music in any movie I've seen.

Hell yeah! Bout the only time I ever liked anything from the Chemical Brothers!

"OSS 117: Cairo: Nest of Spies" 9/10

Thanks so much Arcade, for recommending these flicks. I just watched Nest of Spies and loved it. Great find.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYobrwvSs9Q"Lost in Rio" is Next.

Anytime! I never seen a trailer for either of these films. That one is so funny how it sets up the film. Jean Dujardin is a dead ringer for a French Connery.

The Descendants 8/10

I didn't think the subject matter of this film would intrigue me. But being that it was a film by Alexander Payne and with Clooney I had to see it. Given their track record it wasn't hard to sit and watch it. And it was a good film. Very well acted, I can see why Clooney was nominated and why Payne won. Everyone was on point. Recommended.

Just watched the trailer for this. Appears to be a Pink Panther knock off. How does it compare?

Outrage - 8/10

An excellent Yakuza film from the master Takeshi Kitano. An awesome story with lots of double crossing :D

Contagion - 7/10

I really liked the movie, but wished they would have done more with the onset of quarantining everyone. A few of my friends said it was boring and I can see that, but I just love these types of movies where civilization stops due to some sort of major issue.

It really does... Deathly Hallows really benefited from being split and I think it helped make them one of, if not the strongest films in the series. But this movie was like watching sludge move; I think the content could easily have been chopped in half and there would have been little to no impact on the film :lol

It's more a spoof of the early James Bond films, but there are elements of the Panther films as well as Get Smart. It is currently streaming on Netflix.

It is directed by the director and stars the two leads of "The Artist".

The trailer doesn't do the film justice, like most trailers rarely do. While you do get a feeling that it comes from the same school of Blake Edwards, although almost everyone in these films are caricatures of typical archetypes in film, but the main character isn't a bumbling fool like Clouseau. He's much more of a naive and ignorant character that is full of himself but can back it up with his abilities yet still be very childish at times. Despite all these "flaws" he's very likable and sweet and always means well. Like one of the characters mentions in the film after making an ignorant comment about Egypt, he's "very French".

Within it all there's a bit of social commentary of the times, with how countries saw each other and probably still do, and the camp comes from parodying the old 60s spy films with certain shots, staging, gestures, drinking, womanizing, and even the typical "judo chop" makes it's way in.

It does a good job of drawing the line and walking it, making sure it doesn't cross over into complete self awareness and over the top camp. There are ongoing gags but nothing ridiculous. I would say those same ongoing gags, for example flashbacks that carry over to the 2nd film make that film weaker though.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Thanks. I'll have to check it out.

Speaking of Pink Panther and Netflix. They've finally put A Shot In The Dark back on instant. That was always my favorite of the series.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

No doubt, "A Shot in the Dark" was the best film of the Panther series.

It's funny how it's part of the series but has nothing to do with the Pink Panther and yet still the best of the series.

I recommend The Party if you haven't seen that one already. Great fun film.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I totally agree... "The Party" is one funny film but just a bit dated, still a great Edwards/Sellers picture.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

The Lorax

I will give it a solid 8/10...i am getting a little tired of the "humans suck" theme, but we do so what can you do?

Grizzly Man - 6 out of 10

What a ____ing idiot.

Heh. That was pretty much what I thought ... though I'd have given it a 3/10. The bear ate two people. What the hell was the girlfriend waiting around for?

Support Your Local Sheriff ... 7.5/10. Very funny western from the 70's I think. James Garner is hilarious. Garner his hired on as a slick, smart-assed, gun-slinging Sheriff in a rambunctious gold-mining town that burns through Sheriffs pretty quick.

Atrocious 1/10

The Amityville Haunting 0/10

Possibly 2 of the worst films i've ever watched and both in the same day. Weird.
