I don't remember Avatar ever being bad. Overrated, yes. I've only seen it once but from what I remembered I'd rate it a 7-8/10.

I find the whole "it was so unoriginal" complaints to be ridiculous. There are NO original ideas for movies left. They're all based from something.

I can't see Avatar as a 1 either. Like I said, it's either all or nothing with some people. And how they rate a movie has NO bearing on how I feel about them personally.

Unless it's Celtic rating X-Men Origins:Wolverine :lol

But then I doubt he gave it a 1.

Why is it pushing it ? Just because you love something doesn't mean others do. It's all a matter of opinion and everyone's got one. In this thread if you say you don't like The Hobbit, it's almost like you're insulting someone's mother.

Because my opinion it's pushing it. Remember everyone has an opinion and I'm expressing mine with saying that. Not really. I haven't seen one person yet say it was a bad film whose opinion I'd put much stock in. :peace

Okay, I might give it a 2.5 then.....and I'm a Hulk lover. :lol

That's fair. Some of the cgi was cool.

I don't think I've watched a film that i'd give a 1.

They get filtered out with one look at their cover or 10 seconds of their trailer :lol

Pretty much. :lol

I hate Avatar and I'm giving it a 1/10. I barely finished it and never want to see it again. The story was bad and completely unoriginal, the characters were dull and forgettable, the action was good but nothing we hadn't see in the past 10 years, and I don't like 3D so no matter how good that may have been, it wouldn't influence me to rate it higher. Why would I rate a movie higher that was a chore to sit through and never have a desire to see again?

Very overdramatic.

My proposed rating system...

1.) I will never watch that garbage again.
2.) I didn't love it but it's fine. If it happens to be on TV I may watch it again but I won't go out of my way.
3.) I like it and will be adding the DVD/Blu-ray to my collection.
4.) I loved it so much I will buy anything that has anything to do with this movie.

Obviously I loved the movie, but I do undstand some people being bothered by the inclusion of the rabbits, the goblin kings speech, etc... personally it worked for me, but I am not going to flip out over people having a lower opinion of that. I think most of the bad vibes in this thread are towards obvious trolls, not people with legitimate complaints.

Pretty much! Not hard to see who they are either.

Movie was great for me! Not outstanding, but really good! (looks like i'm not alone in the 8/10 category either)

I'm gonna have to adapt this rating system. I thought I liked the whole 10 point system because its like a letter grade, but this is much more clear and concise. Now I understand the critics score better I guess.

Seriously, why would I give something a generous 5/10 when there was not a single thing in it I liked??? I rate movies based on my enjoyment, not how well made they are.

For instance, one of my favorite TV shows is Xena: Warrior Princess. I give it a 10/10 because I love the crap out of it. Does it deserve a 10/10 based on how well it's made? Heck no. But do I care? No. I'm rating it based on how much I enjoy it.

And even if I did give a movie I hated a 5/10 (still makes no sense why I'd do that), people in here are still upset that people aren't giving "The Hobbit" Less than a 7/10. It's all opinion and if you thought it was perfect, good for you. If you thought it was awful, sorry you didn't enjoy it. What else can be said. People are overreacting to my feelings on "Avatar" just as they are about those who genuinely didn't enjoy "The Hobbit."

Well I just saw it and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not a huge LOTR fan tbh. I've only actually sat down and watched the trilogy maybe 2 or 3 times and have enjoyed it a little more since my son has recently gotten it to it.

So when I decided to finally take him I thought it was going to be mostly bore fest like some were saying it was but I thought there was much more action than people gave it credit for. Overall it was very entertaining movie and I can't wait to see the next one. I think I liked this one more than The Two Towers but still rank Fellowship and the King higher.

I give this one a solid 8/10 and would definitely recommend seeing it to anyone who is even just a casual fan like myself.

This is a pretty good system.

For me, Hobbit would rank as a "2" on that scale.

It was okay, but really just felt like "let's spend some more time in Middle Earth" without feeling like it was worth going back there.

I read The Hobbit when I was younger, and really didn't like it. That was one reason the LOTR movie trilogy surprised me so much - I really liked them.

So I was a bit prejudiced against the movie - not a fan of the source material, and I had a lot of LOTR fatigue going. My wife loves the movies, and watches them a lot. She literally watched Two Towers twice in one day a few months back. And since it seems like they are on TNT once a day, I just randomly see these movies too much, even for someone who likes them.

The Hobbit had a lot of "here we go again" for me. My initial "eh" feeling about the movie went away quickly - anything Martin Freeman does immediately puts me in a better mood. But the movie felt bloated, and poorly paced. I knew it'd be longer than 2.5 hours, so there were a few times I thought the movie would be wrapping up, checked the time, and thought "That's only been ninety minutes?"

I gave a 7 rating on the poll, but that was being nice and bumping it from what I felt was more of a 6.5.

I will say a strong 8, I really enjoyed the light hearted format. It never took itself too seriously except the action scenes. I actually loved the singing and the arrival of the dwarfs. I did see some bad cgi on the Brown's bunny race . I was really excited to see Saurman and Gandalf argue showing the tension between them. Good movie, just hate having to wait a year now
