Loved it, from what I heard I was expecting it to end very much like a movie that was only the first part to one book so I wasn't expecting a end on a climatic scene and for the end credits to just appear but no I liked that last battle and the set up for the next movie!! .. it was weird hearing "chips" and "golf" in the movie, and did they run out of dwarf face prosthetics for that one guy!?:lol

It was also a little odd seeing the bad guys so vocal this time around ..

I don't like rating movies in numbers but if we are playing by those rules I will give it a solid 8.5 .
"Chips" were in Two Towers. I don't think it's any stranger than "sausages" :dunno

I haven't seen Two towers recently so I wouldn't have remembered it being mentioned there too, I dunno I personally wouldn't associate the word with olden times and in effect Middle earth it just seemed odd to me. :dunno

How old is olden times? They're older than Tolkien. They're mentioned in the book too.

Yeah that took me out of the movie for a second too. I was waiting for someone to hand him a bag of Lay's. :lol

I watched this again lastnight, such a great movie. Shame the Star Wars prequals werent to this quality.

I hate to bash Star Wars prequels, it's been done way too much. But... I have to say it was the biggest let down for movies and somewhat ruined Star Wars forever for me. I walked out of Phantom Menace almost in shock it was so horrible. Good thing Peter Jackson came along and made a trilogy for my adulthood. The Hobbit can blow away another generation and be their Star Wars. Disney has a burden saving the mess the prequels and Clone Wars has made.

sent from my R2 unit

Yeah, the prequels pretty much turned me off of Star Wars as a universe. That's why I'm sort of hopeful to see what Disney could do. I was VERY worried that Hobbit might somehow go the same way. I had a lot of faith in PJ though. Of course, I had a lot of faith in Tim Burton before Alice. So there was always that fear... glad the worry was unjustified!

No one has addressed golf. That took me out of the moment too but it was a funny line. As according to the guy I saw it with, from the book?

It's from the actual book.

“If you have ever seen a dragon in a pinch, you will realize that this was only poetical exaggeration applied to any hobbit, even to Old Took’s great-grand-uncle Bullroarer, who was so huge (for a hobbit) that he could ride a horse. He charged the ranks of the goblins of Mount Gram in the Battle of the Green Fields, and knocked their king Golfimbul’s head clean off with a wooden club. It sailed a hundred yards through the air and went down a rabbit-hole, and in this way the battle was won and the game of Golf invented at the same moment.”
