Resident Evil 2 (All 4 campaigns)

Still holds up remarkably well even today, a thoroughly entertaining zombie thriller with sublime atmosphere and laugh-out-loud campy story. The only complaints I have are that the campaigns are a bit too similar and the game is way too easy.

8/10.

finished my 5th play through of Bloodborne, still a 10/10.

finished my 4th play through of Dark Souls 3 in anticipation of the final DLC for next week. It was a 9/10 but this time I was invading people and I had so much fun with the invasion aspect that the game jumped up to a 10/10. There's nothing that has given me the feeling of actually hunting and stalking my prey like I got from DS3 invasions. Arch Dragon peak is where it's at, it's especially fun to use the dragon stones and invade as a dragon. I'm almost done with play through number 5, I really can't wait for next week.

hopefully what ever from software has up next can come close to what they have done with the SoulsBorne franchise because this run of games have been nothing sort of amazing.

Resident Evil: Revelations.

What a shame. What started out as something potentially special that could harken back to the days where the series was actually atmospheric quickly turns into a mad struggle with unfair cheap bosses, drab environments, confusing layout and map system and unimaginative enemies. To top that off, I had to mute the music in the final boss because I kept dying and the music was getting irritating and for that, final cutscene didn't played any audio at all- thus I had to skip the ending!

6/10.

Does the game fall apart for you as soon as Chris shows up to the ship? It did for me, since it just became COD. I'm glad you're finally freed up to try Rev2, which is much more forgiving.

Yes, that too. I forgot to mention that your partner is utterly useless. They won't save you out of a jam and can't shoot to save their hides. They also seem to be wearing some sort of zombie repellent since none of the enemies seems interested in them. I didn't hated the game as much as I find it a wasted potential since it DOES show hints of greatness. Being stranded in a ship alone with some really messed up creatures would have made great horror.

Yeah the premise is great as well as the local. Very moody.

Although with Rev2, is has an overall impact on the larger world of RE while Rev1 feels inconsequential.

REV 2 and RE7 are the only titles in the main series I've never beaten. Without spoiling anything, does the story get stupid like in every other RE game? :lol

In Rev2? Ehhh I dunno. It's more interesting overall than Rev1. I'm honestly tired of seeing the Chainsaw Ganado/ Executioner level monsters in these games. It's every game now.

You'll definitely enjoy it more than Rev1. It's the best modern RE. RE7 I don't really count as RE.

I just finished Episode 1 and while the graphics in the game are really bad, the story and controls are light years ahead of REV1. Heck, I'd say I've never been interested in knowing a RE story like this before. Hope the pace keeps up!

It stays interesting the rest of the game and I like the back and forth with the past and present. The game is also very self aware of the awful acting in RE1 with mentioning Barry's terrible lines from it.

Aladdin (for the Super Nintendo) - 8/10

I've been wanting to play a good 2D platformer again, and I found this again while rustling through some games. It's such a charming game. The music and sprites are fantastic, and the gameplay is really fun. I might replay this a few more times before putting it away.

I always wanted to play that as a kid, but got the bootleg NES port instead. Were you playing on a real SNES?

Ye. I hooked it up to a portable CRT I may or may not have found by a dumpster a few months back in the snow and I've been playing a bunch of my old SNES games on it lately.

I still have a few games I can't find from when my family moved, like Goof Troop and The Adventures of Dr.Franken.

Sweet! CRT is still the best way to go. I wonder how much a SNES and some games goes for, I need something to give the Framemeister a workout.

I think they're in the $90-$130 range. Maybe cheaper if you go the Super Famicom route. I haven't checked in a while, but I'd like to look on Craigslist and start buying up some cheap lots of NES & SNES games.

I want to get an NES to play stuff like the 1989 Batman game, but every one I've seen goes for about $100-$130, which is a bit steeper than what I'd like to pay for one. I would've been set if Nintendo made the NES Classic able to play your own cartridges. Argh. :lol I'm in no rush to get one.

I think I might try tracking down a Genesis next, if not solely to play the V.R. Troopers game. :monkey3

If I'm remembering correctly a few friends of mine have told me there are a couple different models, so I'd have to check that first.

I think loose carts of Batman were much cheaper last time I checked but screw that, it's been decades and I still can't beat that game!

I'll definitely get a NES, SNES, and Genesis someday and mod them to run on HDTV but until then, I'm substituting by using emulators on a modded Wii, which can output the original resolutions of those consoles (240p).

Ha me and my friend stayed up all night playing 1989 batman as kids eating chocolate and drinking cokes and we didnt beat it until the next day. I still remember that game like it was yesterday, extremely cool but a total nightmare to beat. Probably went through the game a ton of times before we actually did it, Megaman frustration level.

When was this? :lol

I can't beat the Joker. I just can't. Those darn lightning bolts always gets me! Thankfully Batman Returns for the NES wasn't half as frustrating. :lol

I mustve been like 9-10 i think. Dont quote me on that, it was whenever the game first came out. If it came out in 89 i was 9 at the time seeing i was born in 80.
