Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Seems to be looking a tad left from certain angles. Nothing too noticeable really. Love this fig.

Nice pics Krayt! :rock That's one nice looking figure. I can't wait to see someone tackle a repaint, at least the hair to bring out the detail more.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

alright..mine just arrived and looking at him through the box his right eye does seem to be looking to the left. almost looks like the "dot" placement makes it stand out more. sence there both on the left of the eye. I'd post pics but the GF just went on vacation and took the camera. :monkey2

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

My only gripe on Gandalf is the paint on the beard at the transition point. If it were a little jagged to suggest the hair doesn't all come out of his face along a straight path, which it doesn't, it'd be that much better, but it's just a tad too clean for me. It is better in hand than the early pics suggest, but it still could be better. Clonobi still has the best paint apps in that regard, beautifully transitioned there.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Totally agree. Clonobi has the better paint job between the two.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

well..just unboxed him and very impressed..
my only gripe is the loose joints.. the legs can flop around with ease.. other than that....:rock

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

I'm eager to see how my photos of him fair tonight, so far, his hair always seems to lean towards the white side of grey instead of the darker, black side, but in hand it's clearly distinct in tonality from what a GTW would look like.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Weird. Again (as with Clonobi) I am lucky. My Gandalf actually seems to tight in the joints.

Ya, I got on the luck side. The feet rotate a bit easily on the horizontal axis, but I'm used to that with the Buck, can't think of too many that have been firm in that area. Arms and the rest of the legs seem fine.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

if I was a no stand kind of guy I might care more... but I'm not..:lol

he does make everything come together..just like the movie..awwww..:lol

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

I actually think Gandalf's paint is better than Clonobi... not in the hair, but the skin-tone is very natural looking. Clonobi (while nice) is a little flat, kind of like the hobbits.

Yup, as far as overall paint apps, Clonobi and Gandalf, each's weakness is the other's strength, neither perfect, but each very nice.

I actually question if Gandalf is a new style head, the skin seems that way, but there's a mix of coloration within it that neither the hobbits or Clonobi have.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Uploading my pics now.... Don't say I never do my part in pic threads. :D

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

I finally got mine and dressed him all up a couple of nights ago. Definitely my favorite of the LOTR 1/6 line....
