Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Just got mine. And I do say he is great. The sculpt is amazing. The hat is very cool. They finally got a cloak right (it just lays perfect). The outfit on the whole turned out great. The fabrics are really nice. Pics don't do this guy justice (which says a lot).

Nothing negative to say. Maybe a little too pink, but it doesn't distract.

I didn't waste any time to move convert it to a True-Type, though :D (great for posing the Bridge of Khazad-dûm scene).

Great figure!! No idea how I want to pose him. :lol

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

I really don't understand all this "I'm gonna quit/sell all my LOTR figures" attitude...
I mean, sure, it would be nice to have the whole fellowship but these are nice figures that can be displayed on their own.
So if SST decide not to make any more SW figures, will everybody sell their collections as well?
Are there busts or statues of the whole fellowship? Is somebody planning on getting the whole fellowship in PF format?
So if I get Theoden then I probably need the entire Golden Hall to display him?

Yea, this has always baffled me too. "Oh no, the Monty Python figures don't include any Carol Cleveland characters, they're so incomplete I can't stand to look at any of them! Off to ebay they go!"

ok, just goit mine, and I'm at a loss, what's the extra dark egery square cloak, and how does it goon him? is this an additional cloak, or an alternate one? if additiona, does it go on over his ther coak, or under it?

I don't know -- does it goon him?

You were really excited when you wrote this no doubt.

I can sympathize with this, its nice to have a complete well rounded collection, in some cases people are extreme. SW I think has done enough major characters to this point, but Gi Joe??? If they did only two or three I would sell mine off.

As for LOTR it would have been nice to a) finish the fellowship and b) have at least one baddie

Man what a great figure... I really do wish the body wasn't such a POS though; this buck (while joints are fairly tight) just poses really poorly even compared to others bucks. Not sure if its the head sculpts fault, but I can't do much with his torso. Other than that the figure is just amazing; really an awesome, awesome looking figure.

I think if all of the LOTR figures had turned out this nice we wouldn't have a line on hold, anyway... here's my pics:

Great pix Marc, Josh & Joseph!!

Yeah, I agree GB, something is extra ^^^^ty about this buck.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

Yeah, usually with a heavily clothed figure I can get some decent poses... but this one is just f'd for some reason. Luckily he still looks good just standing there :lol

Yeah, its a good thing Gandalf is not in need of dynamic posing :lol

Thankfully his head is extremely easy to remove, which I was afraid would be the complete opposite. So if I do decide to put him on a HT body it should be pretty easy.

I wish heads were so easy to remove.

Re: Gandalf the Grey 12" in hand pics !!!

I think I might add some paunch to my Gandalf like I did with Old Ben, should be even easier with the rope belt you can pick how much around it needs to go. With his cloaks off, he just seems to skinny.

I actually thought about that... in the one picture of him walking in the "belt" thread you could tell he had a bit of old man paunch.

I got mine today too, BADASS figure... just needs a repaint... Which I will do here shortly. I love it though, one of the best of the entire line. :rock
