I wouldn't trade some of my other PFs for anything sculpted. I do love fabric, but I feel it doesn't belong on Marvel statues.

Fabric degrades over time? Do you plan on passing your statues down your family tree? It takes hundreds of years for fabric to degrade.

You work with fabrics? So how long do you think these will last?
I have shirts from when I was a baby and they haven't degraded at all. Those are 30+ years old so, if these fabrics last that long I'm happy.

Typically I prefer PFs, but there are a few that the fabric just doesn't look right on - Hulk horror , esp the torn "shirt"), and the Reg Spidey for example; so if it really came down to it for MARVEL only = sculpted.

IF ssc went only one way, then i'd have to choose resin/sculpted, since clothe just wouldn't work for all characters, while resin would work for all of them.

True dat! If I had to choose it would be sculpted, but...

Cloth is cool depending on the character

Well, do you display said shirts openly? Do you subject them to molesting hands, dust, moisture, sun exposure, etc?.....

Well I went to Catholic school and church but, I wasn't molested. And nobody touches my statue's no no places!!!



Seriously, they sit in containers in the attic. Not much different than my statues sitting in a display case. They don't get handled much. Maybe once every few months. dusted at least once a week. No sun exposure at all.
I can understand about that thin stuff they used for Thor and Cap.. That stuff is like pantyhose but, my Hulks pants,Red Skulls uniform, and even Green Goblins shirt and hat are MUCH more thick and of a better quality.

if fabric is not exposed in chemicals,sun etc i think it lasts long...

It seems that after the Wolverine / Sabertooth pieces were released there have been a pretty large number of people not liking the cloth covering most of the body. Where as people seem to like the Gambit and now Cyclops where the majority of the piece is a sculpture with some mixed media.

Also look how well received the Venom/carnage/spidie full sculpts are being received. I think time will tell that primary sculpture is the way to go. If they add some cloth "secondary" parts I think that works pretty well but SS can't force the use of it just so it can be labeled PREMIUM FORMAT and charge a PREMIUM PRICE. I know many people will buy the PF Cyclops and display it without the jacket.

It doesn't matter as long as it's 1:4 scale. Gambit & Black Panther are extremely well done in PF.
