Fabric degrades over time and knowing that SS uses the most cheap ass looking jersey on everything, well it's obvious that sculpted resin wins this round!:winner

how do you know that the fabric of ss is the most cheap???:confused:

If I had a choice, I'd go with fully painted resin pieces 10/10 times. While I'm slowly warming to the issue, I still feel that using cloth/fabric or other fashion type accessories risks moving the piece more towards the Malibu Spidey toy area. However, it's clear that some people absolutely love their pieces all dressed up and ready to paint the town red. And, that's fine. Sadly, I've passed on some nice looking pieces solely because of the use of fabric. I'm also not quite convinced (concerned, mostly) that fabric won't wear all that well over time.

I realize people are split on this so it pretty much comes down to personal tastes. There is no "should be" or "should not be", just what you prefer. Some of the dressed up pieces do look amazing though.

I've been eying a number of the Universal Monsters statues for a while... Sadly, the fabric component is still making me a bit gunshy. All this to say that it appears that both types of statues are in it for the long haul. The only real disappintment is if someone releases a statue in one style and not the other. Then again, it might get some people to try something new. I'm almost there. I was so close to buying the Bride and Frankenstein. I think if I see them first I might feel more at ease.

its a hard one id say cloth. because of the scale... it also shows what a super hero would possible looks like in real life, by using real material.... and yes some look pretty silly with real cloth. haha..

But for things like Spidey paint is the way to go.

I think it all depends on the piece. With that I voted cloth because I am a big premium format fan.

My thoughts exactly. :rock

Which reminds of the Buffy Premium Formats and the new Comiquette! :D

One utilizes cloth, while the other is strictly polystone and resin. Both are equally awesome though. :lecture

I voted for resin. I find that cloth gives the PF more of a "doll" feel to them, than a statue. Needless to say, I have Wolverine & Sabertooth PF's on order. However, I'm about 50/50 on whether I'm going to cancel them or not... mainly due to the cloth.

I agree completely that most comic fans are not seeking uber-realistic looking statues. If you look at most comic art, the amount of musculature is way over the top, and every bit of it is seen through the costume. By putting cloth over top of it, all that is hidden.

Some artists work lends itself better to cloth though. If you look at someone like Alex Ross, you see he goes for a realistic looking Superman & Batman, who is not "ripped". Or atleast if they are ripped, their costume hide it. But Ross is the exception to the rule.

So, to sum up - Resin not Cloth :D!

Re: Resin vs. Cloth - THE POLL!

C you forgot "Both". I really like both equally. It really depends upon the character.

Ditto.
For example...Red Skull is amazing with cloth but, the characters that wear tights look a little funny IMO. Since 95% Marvel characters where tights, I voted for RESIN.

Fabric degrades over time? Do you plan on passing your statues down your family tree? It takes hundreds of years for fabric to degrade. :duh
