sometimes PFs look great, sometimes comiquettes look great. depends on works with the character

Agreed, I love my Thor premium format with the cloth to tears, but sometimes i look at my sabertooth and wish he was without the clothing, tottaly depends on the piece.

As long as they are 1/4 scale and it works for the character I could care less. But I took fully sculpted cos the cloth hasn't worked so good on some PF's.

I am in the process of stripping off all the PF and repainted except Hulk PF.

I like the size of the PF over the commiquette but i like the painted commiquette over the PJ of the PF.

Resin is prefereable to me on Marvel pieces for a number of reasons:

1. Cloth degrades, stains and changes color over time, which presents a real problem when it is glued on to the piece and you can't clean or fix it too easily. Sideshow does not really use high quality cloth in their offerings.
2. Cloth occludes a lot of muscle definition especially in Marvel pieces, they do not look like the comic art any more.
3. Many of the old school sculptors worked primarily with stone as a single media and their art has translated and survived down til today.
4. You can't achieve a dynamic cloth look with just cloth without great difficulty. For instance, many characters are pictured in the comic with cloaks, hoods or jackets flowing in the wind and even with wires the full effect is very hard to achieve without fully sculpted costumes.

I would be fine if they made a 1/4 scale of both sculpted AND mixed media for each character, unfortunately they have chosen to go 1/5 scale for some the comiquettes which is indeed a missed opportunity imho.

:goodpost::exactly:I intend to do that eventually as well, especially seeing how much better CFly's customs turned out.

I loved the Sideshow PF's from day one because it did brought the difference of a regular statue.

I remember looking at my Doom, the first Sideshow statue I owned and was amazed that fabric and polystone was combined to make such an awesome statue. :lecture

Media is less important than scale.

Make em all 1/4 scale and I am happy with mixed media or full sculpted.

It doesn't matter as long as it's 1:4 scale. Gambit & Black Panther are extremely well done in PF.

Gambit and Black Panther were sculpted pieces with a coat and a cape tossed in just to call them PFs. Calling them PFs is a bit misleading.

True PFs are more like the Wolverine and Sabretooth PFs. Their costumes consisted mainly of cloth. IMHO, both of those sculpts would have looked much better fully sculpted.

The PFs with the least amount of cloth seems to be the sculpts that look best. This just makes me firmly believe that 1/4 scale fully sculpted just can't be beat.
